M. 8. of the United Church was held at Greenbank Church, on Tues- day, June 17th, and was a decided suc- cess. Mrs, Shipman, of Cannington, President, presided and a splendid re- presentation from the auxiliaries were present. 'The meeting opened with silent prayer, then the Doxology. Mrs. S. Chambers, of Wilfred, read the Bibie reading from the 91st Psalm. Prayer was offered by Rev. Mr. Dyer, follow- ed by hymn 270," Mrs. McKinnon, of Cannington, the Secretary, read the minutes of the last meeting, held at Wilfred. Mus, | Robt. Michie, on behalf of the Ladies of Greenbank Auxiliary, gave the ad- dress of welcome to which Mrs. Coon, of Manilla, made a suitable reply. The secretaries of the various de- partments gave reports on their work, after which Mrs. Clarke, of Manilla, on behalf of their W. M. S. extended an invitation to the ladies to hold the next Sectional meeting in the Salem United Church. "This was followed by a very ap- propriate solo, by Miss Bernice Leask, Greenbank. "Mrs. Dyer gave a splendid report of the 6th annual Branch meeting held at Bowmanville. Miss Danoon, Lindsay, then intro- duced Mrs. Smith, the speaker of the afternoon. Mrs. Smith, a represent- ative of the field of our missionary work in India, gave a most compre- hensive report. She pictured India with her 330 millions of people as she really is, a land of contrast, history, resource, a land of great wealth, yet you find people the poorest. She told of their work and the different modes of living during their 22 years in India mission. Mrs, Smith closed her address with a beautiful poem--*"India for Jesus, and Jesus for India."
