WEEDS TO BE REMOVED AT LAKE FRONT Word has just been received from Ottawa, that the Dept. of Canals is sending the Harwood to Lake Scugog to clear the weeds from the harbors at Port Perry and Caesarea, and to re- mark the channels, We understand this work will be underway in the course of a few days. E. members took their annual picnic to Orillia. Ideal weather favored them. A bus was chartered, and thirty-one ladies availéd themselves of the sut- ing. They had dinner upon arriving at the beautiful park in Orillia, In the afternoon the bus conveyed the ladies to the children's home about two miles outside the town and situ- ated on the lake shore. Every detail of the wonderful training of the child- ren was explained by a house doctor. After returning to the park bathing and ball playing was enjoyed until tea-time. THE STREET DANCE Friday evening's performance in Port Perry was thoroughly enjoyable to those who took part. All the ar- rangements (for which Mr. Norman Ewers was almost entirely respons- ible) were well thought out and the result was a pleasing evening's enter- taihment with no friction or rowdy- ism. Those competent to be judges say that' the Corn Huskers' orchestra rendered excellent music and their intermission program was appreciated, Much of the opposition to street dances would disappear if by careful planning conditions were such that those who are inclined to make trouble find that they are not wanted or tolerated.
