In the outdoor chapel at Beausoleil Island, Georgian Bay, there took place - the marriage of Miss Bona Mills, _ daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C, Mills, of Sydney, N.S, to Rev. J. E. Grimth, Humbercrest United Church, Toronto, the Rev. Frank Longford, performed the ceremony. 'Ie chancel was banked with ferns, mosses and wild flowers, the centre being of white water lilies and card- inal flowers. The bride and groom entered together, the bride wearing a gown of delphinium blue with slippers to match and carrying a bouquet of blue larkspur and pink and white snapdragon. She also wore the gift of the groom, a filagree bracelet set with sapphires and diamonds, During the ceremony in which the guests participated Miss Thelma Scott sang "O Perfect Love". This was used also for a recessional hymn as the guests left the chapel. The reception was held in a beautiful spot out of doors where the eighty guests present extended their good wishes to the bride and groom. Mr. and Mrs. Griffith left by canoe for Fairy Lake, the bride wearing a white and green sport costume with green leather coat. Later they will motor to the Maritime Provinces and upon their return will make their home at 13 Thornhill Ave. Toronto. The bride iss national girls' work secretary of the United Church in Canada. The township of Cartwright will be interested in the above wedding and the hosts of warm friends of the groom will join in wishing him and his bride every happiness. Rev. Miss Dorothy Bellman of Bowman- ville, is the guest of Misses Susie and Olive VanCamp. Miss. Ruth Marlow has returned home from a very enjoyable trip to Europe. Mr. J. H. Devitt and daughter Mrs. M. Fallis, have returned home from Vancouver where they were visiting with relatives, They were delighted both with their visit and the trip. Messrs. Oliver and Thomas Barton of St. Joseph's Island, are visiting with their sister Mrs. M. Smith. iss, Louise Argue, of Toronto, is a Zvest at the home of her nephew Mr. Ira Argue. Miss Annie Archer, of Oshawa, is spending some time with her parents Mr. and Mrs. John Archer. Mr. and Mrs, Luther Mountjoy en- joyed a motor trip to Muskoka on Tuesday last. The August meeting of the W. M, 8. of the United Church was held at the home of Mrs. Earl Dorrell with a splendid attendance of 60 members and visitors. The meeting opened with devotional exercises and Bible reading by Mrs. Norman Mountjoy. The members have undertaken to finance the decorating of their church and as a means towards that end have sold home-made baking to the campers |' at the Lake netting themselves the] fine sum of $116. They also realized more money from the sale of quilts. The program for the meeting consist- ed of two addresses on Home Missions by Misses Susie VanCamp and Hazel Mountjoy; reading by Miss Amnal' Rowan, of Millbrook, a piano solo by Miss Newell and songs by the girls. Several interesting games of soft- ball have been played as follows: On Friday 22nd, between the girls] south of Blackstock and those of the|' north, won by the South girls, On} Tuesday 26th, between Blackstock and Scugog, played at Scugog and won by Blackstock. On Wednesday, 27th, between Blackstock and Green- baank, and won by Blackstock. On Friday, 29th, between Blackstock and |' Scugog, played in Blackstock and won by Blackstock. County's seventeen school Fairs will be held on Monday, September 8th on Scugog Island. An endeavour is being made this year to improve on the forenoon pro- gramme. Inter-county First Aid Con- test should prove interesing. This Contest is open to teams of 3. The prize is a First Aid Kit for the school. Another event to be held in the fore- |, noon is a weed naming contest. The afternoon programme will start out with the Physical Exercises. The schools will all line up in order of their S. 8. numbers and will be put through their Strathcona exercises in group by one of the teachers. All schools taking part in this drill in a creditable manner will be awarded a Softball as a prize. A program of sports, music, sing- ing, elocution and public speaking to- gether with remarks concerning the exhibits by the judges will round out the outside afternoon program. Children and parents are asked to read their prize lists carefully so that misunderstanding by entering in classes in which they may not be en- titled to exhibit. Changes in dates of fairs have been found necessary due to unavoidable circumstances. Rama and Mara fair dates have been switched.
