Dr. Whittaker, Rector of the Anglican Church at Blackstock, was the speak- er. Having spent twenty-three years among the Eskimo natives, Dr. Whit- taker gave a most informative ad- dress as to the character and habits of these far away people; and the effect of the Gospel message on their manners and morals. Dr. Whittaker says that the Eskimo is not poor; but that of late years the fur trade has made him rich--his annual income ranging from $5,000 down. Of course his method of™living admits of few of the niceties of civilized life; par- ticularly as he has no settled home; but when he adopts Christianity he is honorable and good natured.
