LUKE & SON, Optometrists 163-167 Yonge St. Toronto (Up-stairs, opposite Simpson's) The Late Thomas Beare Last Thursday morning the citiz of this district heard with great lin of the passing of Mr. Thomas Beare, of Port Perry, after a very brief ill- ness. Mr. Beare had always enjoyed good health, never having spent a day in bed through illness, until he was seized with the disease which caused his death, a few day before that event. His going will leave a gap in the large circle of friends, who will miss his cheery good will, and helpful ways. The deceased was known in the district as few men were known, because he had lived here all his life and his business as miller brought him into contact with a great many people. Everybody liked him because of his native kindness and good nature. : Mr. Beare was born at Greenbank, March 29th, 1854, the son of John Beare and Harriet Abbott. He lived on the farm until his marriage to Jessie Ann Malcolm, in 1875. At that time he moved to Greenbank where he operated the grist mill for five or six years. He then bought the grist mill at Manchester, and there he car- ried on business until thirteen years ago, when he moved to Port Perry. The late Mr. Beare was a member of the United Church, also a member of the Loyal Orange Lodge at Utica. The latter organization conducted the funeral rites at the grave. Ser- vice was held at the house and in the church, conducted by Rev. R. T. Richards. Deceased is survived by his widow and five children--Mrs. Wm. Stephen, of Windsor, Ont.; Miss Leola Beare, of McKeesport, Penn; and Cecil, Malcolm, and Earl, of Port Perry. He is also survived by three brothers--John and Isaac, of Green- bank; and Elijah, of Port Perry; and three sisters--Mrs. Lizzie Walker, of Toronto; and Mrs. Wm. Nichols, and Miss Rebecca Beare, both of Kingston. There are six grandchildren. Interment was made at Prince Al- bert, in the Pine Grove Cemetery. ee eet @ Po PRINCE ALBERT Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Dusty, of Green- bank, were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Gordon. Mrs. Henry Cosburn and Mrs. Nor- man McGregor, of Toronto, visited with Mr. and Mrs, L. Mrs. Mark, of Winni- peg, was the only absent member It was also the anniversary of Mrs. Rawlinson's birthday. We certainly wish these good people many mere happy hirthdays. The Boys' Club of this village held a social evening on Tuesday last en- tertaining the young ladies of the village between the ages of twelve and twenty-five. After lunch was served games were played. Miss G. Martyn looking after this part of the entertainment, while Mrs, Herb. Hope and Mrs. Luke acted as chape- rones.
