Pearson, have just returned from an auto trip to Halifax and home through the Blue Mountains. They were gone two weeks, and had a most enjoyable journey. The scenery is very beauti- ful, and the roads keep one guessing as to what is ahead. They wind in and out and at one time, the travellers crossed the same railway eighteen times within eighteen miles. rr el PP ee -- During the past five weeks Miss Helen Mellow, A.T.C.M., has been taking a Summer Course in the Nor- mal School, Toronto, and is now in a position to teach singing in schools. For the last two weeks of August Miss Mellow is taking a course at the Conservatory of Music. This consists of a new method of piano teaching for beginners. The pupils are taken in groups instead of individually and this is proving very successful in the cities of the Dominion. Each pupil gets instruction for 1 hour a week at b0c. a lesson, and some of the highest marks. for examinations have been ob- tained by pupils started in this new way. A large crowd came out to cheer them along. The weather did not look very favorable but the rain quit for the evening. Thé score was 20-5 in our favor, but the visitors were good sports. Our girls' ball team motored to Prospect®on Monday evening, Aug. 10 to play another softball game with the 'Prospect girls. The score was 18-11" in favor of Scugog. A ball team from Williams' Point were to have come over to play our boys on Thursday last, but did not arrive 'until Monday evening, and a number of our players did mot turn | up. However a number of the young- "er boys turned in and played the game, with the result of 8-5 in favor of the visitors. Indian Field Day, Wed. August 19th.| * The Indians of Scugog will 'hold their annual Field Day of sports and a softball competition. Refreshments will be provided by the Women's As- sociation.
