Cook home again after being in the Toronto Hospital for some time. Mr. Cook is progressing nicely after his serious operation. "This is our Fair, wil it should receive the support of every citizen in this com- munity. There is to be a real Midway at the Fair this year. Allan's ten shows 4 will introduce you to the fun in life at Port Perry Fair, on Saturday, September 19th. After the day's show at the Fair Grounds there will be a night performance at the water front. A feature of the Fair will be the Farmer's Green Trot. The purse has been raised from $25.00 to $60.00, and that should be a good inducement to local farmers with speedy horses. Every citizen should go to the Fair this year. Port Perry FIRST should be the motto. We have fine exhibits, and the Directors are anxious to make this the best Fair of the district. SCUGOG Rev. Mr, Elford gave us a good ser- mon last Sunday evening. He took for his text Romans 1:14, "I am debtor .both to the wise and to the unwise." Everyone iS invited to at- tend service next Sunday at the usual hour. Quite a number are attending the "Ex." from around here. We had a wind and rain twister last Tuesday afternoon. It flattened the buckwheat and twisted the corn so a number of the farmers have to cut it with the sickle. The corn is extra good this year, some being 12 feet tall. Miss Florence Elford and three other teachers left by taxi for. their schools near Fort Frances. They visiting several friends and places of interest on the way and had a very enjoyable trip of over 1100 miles. Mr. and Mrs. H. Wannamaker, Bert and Glen, and Mrs. J. Wannamaker, of Seagrave, and Mr. Percy Jeffrey were guests of Mr. and Mys. J. Demara on Sunday. Miss Olive Gerrow, of Toronto, is having a week's holidays with her parents here. Misses Blanche and Marguerite Sweetman, spent the week «nd and holiday with their parents here. Miss Marguerite has been spending the summer months at Kluey's Bay, in Muskoka, where she had a very en- Joyable time. Mr. W. Mark, of Velentia, visited his brother, Mr. W. Mark, one day last week. Mr. O. Gerrow of Oshawa, spent the week end and holiday with his brother Frank. Mr. and Mrs. George Reed, from Montreal, were on a motor trip last week and visited Mr, O. Williams, Mr. and Mrs, J. A. Jeffrey in Toronto for a couple of weeks. There has been another unwelcome visitor calling on some of the hen houses around here. They cleaned out Mr. Gordon Flewell's hen house.
