ORCHESTRAL RECITAL * Last Sunday evening in the United Church, at Port Perry, the orchestra assisted in the musical part of the service, and at the conclusion of the regular service, they gave a pleasing recital. Mr. Hayner, of Oshawa, sang a beautiful tenor solo. I HOCKEY The first game of the season turned out to be a very live one. After having several of their 0.H.A. games postponed, Port Perry finally (with the aid of a few hours of cold weather) met the Rouge Hill team in the Port Perry Arena on Monday, Jan, 11th, and a real fast game followed. The following was the line-up: Rouge Hill--Goal, John Cavanagh; Defence, A. B. Bradley and A. Bye; Centre, W. Bradley; Right Wing, W. Treadway; Left Wing, W. Shorting; Subs, A. Vince, G. Offin, D. Dix, J. Miller. Port Perry--Goal, N. Deshane; De- be fence, M. McDonald and G. Raines; Centre, J. Sleightholm, L. Wing, Sleightholm, R. Wing, F. Switzer; Subs, E. Sleightholm, R. Cornish, D. The next goal scored was a pass from Raines to Dave Dowson, who put a hot one past the goalie. The next three goals were scored by E. Sleightholm. On Friday evening of last week, a most enjoyable program was given by the Prospect Minstrels, in the Man- chester Hall. During the evening several splendid numbers were given by Misses Beth Watson and Joyce Thomas, tap and toe dancers; Miss Marion Holtby, elo- cutionist; Mr. Arnold Roach, Saxo- phonist; Messrs, George Irwin and Cecil Hooey, piano accordian and guitar; Fred Stevens, violinist; Mr. Sid Erskine, soloist; Mr. George Lar- kin, monologue.
