SEAGRAVE The anniversary services held in connection with our church on Sun- day, were largely attended and a suc- cess in every way. Rev. J. M. Whyte of Enniskillen, was the speaker for the day. Service in the morning was a children's service. The minister took for his text "The Home", and gave a most inspiring and pleasing address, which was enjoyed by all. A children's choir rendered nice music. The quartette "Little Friends of Jesus," by the Misses Jean Harding, Alexa Stone, Doris and Aileen Bur- nett, being especially well rendered. The evening service was also of special interest. The sermon de- livered from Matthew 6:13, "Deliver us from Evil", being humorous, in- spiring and full of spiritual advice for everyone present. The church choir rendered two nice anthems. The solo by Mrs. Joe Grantham was much en- joyed. The services were highly commended by the pastor and con- gregation. The church was beauti- fully decorated for the occasion. The collections for the day were very sat- isfactory. Monday afternoon, sports were witnessed by a large crowd. Baseball teams from Zion, Salem and Seagrave played good ball. Seagrave boys will have to do some more practicing be- fore they win the cup. Supper in the basement was all that could be de- sired, with plenty of eats left over for a social held on Tuesday evening, which was announced, The play en- titled "Alley Daffodil" as presented by Hartley Dramatic Club was well given and great credit is due their trainer, each one taking their parts well. The music given between acts by the Gordon Orchestra, solo by Miss McMillan, of Greenbank, was also much enjoyed and appreciated. Pro- ceeds in keeping with other years. Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Will Brown, Mrs. N. Mitchell, Mr. Geo. Bowden, Toronto; Mr. and Mrs. Ploughman and family of Scugog; Mrs. W. Bruce, of Port Perry; Mr. and Mrs. C. Wilson and daughter, of Prospect; Mr. and Mrs. H. Leask, of Uxbridge; Mr. and Mrs.' Culbert, Mrs. E. Frise, Mr. and Mrs. E. Rogers, who has spent the winter in Toronto with her daughter, Mrs. J. H. Brown, has returned to Seagrave for the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Elliott, of Toronto, were week-end visitors of Mr. and Mrs. A. Wallace. Miss L. McNeally, of Sonya, spent the week-end at the home of Mr. and Mrs, J. Harding. Mrs, J. Munroe of Sonya, spent a few days with Mr. and 'Mra: J. Mark. Rev. J. M. Whyte, of Enniskillen, was the guest on Sunday, 'of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Orchard. Mr. and Mrs. Percy Heayns, of To- ronto, Mr. and Mrs. Albert James, of Woodville, visitors on Sunday of Mrs. W. Mark and Miss Lottie Mark. Many = visitors from Seagrave United Church ¢ ircuit, Pleasant Point, Zion and Sonya, and bther point¥ were among those attending our _ Special services on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Will Newmzn and baby, accompanied by friends motored from Montreal and are spending a holiday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. Eagleson. Mr. Newman was formerly a Seagrave boy, and his - friends are pleased to see him again. Rev. B. F. Green conducted an- niversary services on Sunday at Cad- mus. Sorry to report Mrs. Emtha Mark quite ill in Toronto. Mrs. Mark, although up in years, looks forward every summer to spending a holiday in Seagrave. [Her many friends wish a speedy recovery. Glad to report Mrs. John Mark able to be out for the 8. S. anniversary, after her recent illness, Mrs, S.J. mother, Mrs. Leask, who has been ill in To- ronto, from the accident received at Greenbank some time ago, paid a short visit here on Sunday evening. Joe Bowes eel EP ZION Miss Maude Mark, Velentia, spent Tuesday with Mrs. Fred Western Miss Alma King has returned home after spending the past months in Toronto. The girls' softball team from Little Britain motored over after school on Wednesday afternoon and played a friendly game of softball with the Zion girls. Although Little Britain took the lead for the first few innings, Zion did not lose courage; and soon began to gain on the other teahi. The game closed with a victory for Zion girls, the score being 14-12. Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Kerr of, Ops, called on friends here recently. A number of farmers in this vicin- ity have had to plow up part of their spring crop owing to the grain being eat off with cut-worms. : Mr. and Mrs. Byron Osborne and family of Salem, visited with Mr. and Mrs, Edgar Wooldridge on Sunday. A large number from this vicinity and Little Britain motored to Lind- say on Thursday evening and attend- ed the inquest to inquire into the death of Edward Davis, aged 53, of Little Britain, who, on Sunday night, was struck and fatally injured by Dr. T. C. R. Hall's car while walking on the Oakwod-Little Britain highway. The jury found that in their opinion there was no negligence. on the part of Dr. Hall and that there was negli- gence by the deceased in 'walking in the centre of the e highway.
