ONTARIO DISTRICT MASONS AT FUNCTION AT PORT HOPE With all due pomp and ceremony, the third annual celebration of the Past District Deputy Grand Masters night was observed by Ontario Lodge, A. F. & A. M. Port Hope, on Friday evening, March 17th. Visitors were present from Oshawa, Whitby, Bow- manville, Port Perry, Cobourg and other places. The celebration, which featured an Irish program, marked the 57th anniversary of the entry of R. W. Bro. Capt. W. J. Robertson, of Port Hope, into masonry, and he is the oldest past district deputy of On- tario District (J2) as well as the old- est past master of Ontario Lodge. Past District Deputies filled the various offices for the evening. The toast to the B. D. G. M's. was proposed by W. Bro. Harry Mitchell, Port Hope, and responses were given by R. W. Bro. A. B. Cawker, Port Perry, Dr. Kaiser, Oshawa, and others. A feature of the program was an inspiring address by Bro. Capt. Ed die Baker, of Victory Lodge, Toronto. He is a holder of the Military Cross and the Croix de Guerre, and at the present time is the secretary general of the Canadian National Institute for 'the Blind. He lost his sight in the fall of 1916 while in the service of his Country. PORT PERRY FOLK ENJOY A GET-TO-GETHER AT WINDSOR On Friday evening, March 17th, a little get-together party of former Port Perry boys and girls in the Border Cities, was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bert. Singleton, (nee Francis Switzer), 31 Belle Isle Ave, East Windsor. The evening was spent in renewing old acquaintancés, some of the guests having not seen each other in twenty years or more; dancing, etc. The hostess served refreshments. PATRICK'S ENTERTAINMENT The annual St. Patrick's entertain- ment of St. John's Presbyterian Church was held on March 17th, at the church. A bounteous supper was served by sweet colleens in green and white aprons and caps amid decora- tions commemorate of Ould Ireland. Messrs. Albert, Ganton, John and Chas. Clarke, of Manilla, accompanied at the piano by their sister Mrs. Mellow, and assisted by Miss Kathleen Hicks, of Oakwood; elocutionist, pro- vided a very interesting program, which included vocal quartettes and duets, and two Irish songs, sung by Charles Clarke, "When Irish Eyes are Smiling" and "I'll Take You Home Again Kathleen." Mr. Ganton Clarke rendered violin selections which were well received. Miss - Hicks gave several good readings. Amusing skits were conducted by Mr. John Clarke and great encouragement was given to aspiring pianists by the fine results obtained from perseverance as demon- strated by that enterprising young man. Somewhat of a wood bee was held last week when the year's supply of wood for the church was cut and drawn from the 8rd concession of Reach. Nearly forty of the young people of the Y. P. A. availed themselves of the invitation of the Seagrave Young People's 'Association to visit them re- cently. A large truck and four cars were necessary to carry the visitors. All reported having a most enjoyable time. Last week's topic at the Y. P. A: was Christian Fellowship. Miss Laird took the topic and Mr, Clarke took the devotional part as well as leading in congregational singing. Next week's Missionary programme will be in charge of Miss Gertrude Martyn.
