Among them are President of Port Perry Kinsmen, President of Port Perry Ringettes, Member of the Knights of Columbus, as well as coaching minor ball, hockey and ringette. / I am presently Chairman of Prince Albert Community Hall Board. I am in favour of continued funding for Community halls and Parks and Recreation facilities with municipal tax funds. I believe in controlled growth in the township. Our utilities and the environment must be able to keep pace. Respectfully asking for your vote, on November 12, 1991 Fred Canning FRED CANNING aid * 30 Years in Prince Albert * 36 Years with Bell Canada *'Wife Vivian, Sons David and Ed, and Daughter Lisa NOVEMBER 12th, 1991 Fred CANNING (x) 31 Jeffrey Street, Prince Albert (416) 985-3857 Authorized by the CFO for Fred Canning VERTISING PULLOUT SECTION == Tuesday; Nov THERS Councillor - Ward 1 - Reach Our area of Scugog Township will encounter many changes and pressures in the coming years. As I see it, the real challenge will be to make sure that change and growth take place without sacrificing our quality of life. This 1s more than just possible; it's vital so we don't become one more faceless bedroom community. To take a prominent example: large scale housing developments can't even be considered until we have solved the sewage, water and waste disposal problems they will create. Housing is needed, but thé point is we must plan for it - - now - - before a crisis develops. : To take another: tax fatigue is very real. People in Ward 1 watch their taxes rise with no visible benefit. In my opinion, taxes should be capped at current levels and more creative aye found to raise funds. Ward 1 is a large area, and its residents have many different interests and oals, from farming to home ownership to business pursuits. I have ecided to run for Ward 1 Councillor b believe my extensive large and small business experience, coupled with my already serious involvement in the community, will contribute greatly to a balanced, decisive, prepared Council. > . Representing a ward is like running a business. Resources are limited, budgets must be met and consultation is very important. In government or in business, effective decisions can only be made when all these factors have been considered. As Ward 1 Councillor, 1 well do my very best to see to it that everyone is represented fairly and that growth is strictly controlled, so we can meet future challenges with a clear plan in mind. This is what "Preserving the Past ... Preparing for the Future" means to me. I hope it means the same to you on November 12th. If you need more information or would like a ride to the polls, call me at 985-1704, 985-1705 or 985-1706. Ken Carruthers KEN . Carruthers A Strong, Decisive WARD 1 COUNCILLOR: On Growth: "To preserve our lifestyle, the growth that will happen must be controlled through careful long-range planning." On Fiscal Responsibility: "Tax dollars must be spent wisely, with maximum benefit for the community, not just any one group, , Or area." On Listening: It's impossible to represent the fairly unless 1 listen cisely to them. This is my pledge to Ward 1 voters." Elect KEN CARRUTHERS WARD 1 COUNCILLOR on November 12 "Preserving the Past ... Preparing for the Future" Authorized by the CFO for Ken Carruthers
