On The Facts of Life To the Editor: I would like to address a few items in regards to the mailing of the Abortion Information Booklet called "The Facts of Life" from the Port Perry Baptist Church. Caution: This letter may turn your crank the wrong way such as the Facts of Life did to Gary Kirkham in his viewpoint in the Novernber 19 Port Perry Star. 1 support and 'admire Pastor Daniels' attempt to inform the community about the truths of abortion. The Church did not stick its beliefs down anyone's throat any more than Mr. Kirkham did in expressing his views. What I call forcing views down one's throat is when Pro-Life per- sons as myself see out tax dollars supporting the most common and yet un-recognized form of child abuse---abortion. Does Mr. Kirkham have his tax dollars sup- porting the Pro-Life organization without his say? Likely not. What I call forcing views down one's throat is the termination of an un-born child who does not have a say on whether to live or die. What gives pro-abortionists the right to life, the privilege of expe- riencing life over that of an un- born child? What makes them so special? And what must the chil- dren of today think when we leave them with such values as passing , laws to kill other children? Abortion does not stay tucked away in its own litle corner, affecting only those who have had one. It spreads like a cancer to other bodies of society. It is the infesta- tion of immorality, glorifies the disrespect of human life at its sim- plest and innocent stage, and .pre- pares the way for the extremes of euthanasia. So; as the laws permitting child assassination are passed, as the children of today are mis-lcading- ly convinced of the reasons for killing the innocent who are "in the way" and do not meet soci- ety's standards, and who are a threat to the lifestyle, we pave the road of our own future, becoming masters of our own destruction that we may die from the taste of ofir own poison. [NY {& For those who are pro-abortion, or pro-choice fence sitters, I leave you with this thought: Aren't you glad your parents didn't think that way before you were born? Bob Ouelette, Scugog Township. Grateful for courage To the Editor: Thank you to Professor Anita "Hill. In one day she educated a nation, perhaps more than one, about sexual harassment. At 'great personal risk, she bravely recounted how her boss demeaned and" degraded her pro- fessional reputation with his pornographic descriptions and sex- ual fantasies. She explained to everyone listening what it felt like 10 be sexually harassed; she told us how her promising career hinged on her silence. We are deeply sorry that so many of those who listened failed to hear her. It is deeply disturbing that a majority of Americans and United States Senate bury their heads in the sand of victim blaming and a man's right to usc his position of authority to control' women, Like all women and men who have painful secrets, she has made a difference in'everyone's life. Her giving voice 10 her experience is a gift 10 those who have not yet found their voice. Betause she has ~ spoken oui so loud, she has given support 10 others about the validity of their experiences. We regret that those who heard and cven acknowledged her. testimo AAAS AA MAAN chose to. believe Judge Clarence Thomas's denial over truth. She has inspired those of us . who 'work in the anti-sexual vio- lence movement to further empha- size in our public education efforts how sexual harassment is a pro- found and debilitating part of most women's lives. We must now evaluate how our services may bg more responsive to these victims. . We wish Professor Hill peace-' ful, productive and happy days. ,We greatly respect her and are grateful for her courage. The Women of the Scugog and District Rape Crisis Centre. Corrections A leuer to the editor in the November 19 Scugog Citizen from the Kidney Foundation made refer- ence 10 the number of cases of peanuts sold during the Foundation's recept campaign. The number should have read 550 cases. Also, in the Citizen Winter Guide of Noyember 13, readers may have been left with-the impression the pickerel (walleye) scason on Lake Scugog is closed this time of year. In fact, the walleye season is open now and stays open until March 15 when it closes until May 11. a
