A total of $19,555 worth of 'Sunsweet' wrapping 6-inch television, AM/FM radio; Sabrina Brown won the portable stereo; and kindergarten student Sarah Nippard won the stereo system. paper p ts and y etc. was sold for a profit of $8,406. Individual top seller was Coral Sharkey, with $353 worth of sales, caming herself the grand prize of a mountain bike. The top selling family was the Breen family: Jonathan, Matthew and Sarah sold » an unbelievable $574 worth of product and earned themselves a portable stereo. . Gifts for Melissa This December, Melissa Bhakia. will receive gifts three times: on her birthday, on Christmas Day, - and on the day she goes to Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children to receive the gift that makes birthdays and Christmas possible for her. That gift is a transfusion of red blood cells -- the gift of life. Melissa has Thalassemia Major, an inherited blood condition that prevents the body from making enough normal red cells to carry oxygen to tissues.*To treat her dis- case and help her develop normal- than five years -- lier birthday is today (Dec. 10) -- and must con- tinue to do so until a cure is found. A severe form of chronic ane- 'mia, Thaslassemia Major's effects inglude fatigue, recurrent infec- tions and possible heart and liver complications. : Yet, thanks to the of blood donors, the transfusi them, Melissa would not be alive. 'When she is old enough to under- stand, she will be grateful too." Currently, 150 children are being treated for Thalassemia at The Toronto Hospital and Hospital for Sick Children. All receive, free of charge, blood from the Toronto Centre of the Canadian Red Cross. The Toronto Centre provides blood and blood products to 61 hospitals throughout central Ontario. .
