Juveniles come clo close in Brighton The Port Perry Key Bar Office Equipment Juveniles hit the road December 7 for Brighton to com- pete in their first tournament of the hockey season. And the team put on an excel- lent show, losing a tough squeaker to a Markham AA squad for the A Division championship. This was an "edge of the seat nail-biter" that was up for grabs right until the final minute. Fans were treated to a fine hockey game that was marred only by a constant stream of foul lan- guage from the Markham coach- ing staff. Scoit Menzies opened the scor- ing for Port with help from line- mates John Ennis and Gerry Douma. Coach Is Ivory Forest Juniars home from Sudbury The Ivory Junior Ringette squad travelled ni to Sudbury over the weekend to get a taste of their first tournament competition for the season. The girls drove through the dark- ened streets of Sudbury to Cambrian Arena for a game that started at 8:00 AM Saturday and were greeted by a familiar group of "Sharks." Even with the welcome encour- agement from the Midget C team from Port, Ivory Forest suffered a 12-5 loss at the hands of Sudbury. Shannon Fox had two goals with Amy Parliament, Karen Kett and Jennifer Smith adding the others. Jennifer Morden collected two assists, but the girls seemed to be their next game that afternoon as Port again came out on the short end of the scoresheet to lose 10-5 to Kitchener, Fox and Smith had two with one 10 Kett, and the goals came from pure determination. Injury and illness hit the team hard and in, the third game of the day, Port faced a team from Sudbury.
