sesdlay, February 11,1998 0 + WITHDOUG OLLIFFE Henshall's, a brand new clothing store for men and women on Queen St., opened on Valentine's Day. Pamela Henshall is the proud owner and she was on cloud nine Friday, with ear-to-ear smiles for all her customers and guests. Joel Aldred (left) of Scugog Island was Pamela's first cus- tomer -- he bought a Croyden trench coat (size 48!) and liked It 80 much, he wore it out the door! And Mayor Howard Hall paid a visit to cut the official red ribbon, with some help from Pamela and her | son Lindsay B Chocol hearts were given away as a memento to the occasion (deliclous!). If you haven't seen Henshall's, check out all the great clothes Pamela has ready for you! Bargoons in Brief (not briefs) You can still win a cel- lular phone at Port Perry Auto Glass. Now ask yourself to look -at the debris left on the roads after one of these fender benders, usually at intersec- tions, especially in the urban areas. This is not only a cost factor to yourself but safety to everyone. Who is in charge of the acci- dent? I say the police. 2. The mess should be broom- swept clean at the time of the acci- dent witlPthe police flashing lights etc., giving the cleaning persons the maximum protection. 3. Who benefits from the acci- dent? Not the individuals involved, not the police, but the tow truck operators if required. You will usu- ally find a 10 or 15 dollar addition to the towing bill for cleaning up. wa is the answer? ATPut all tow truck owners and operators under Ontario Licensing like most of the building trades. I am not adding to bureaucracy of government because the system is already there and they will be charged an annual fee. Should they not comply with a common set of rules they lose their license. B. All tow trucks and police accident vehicles to carry a broom, shovel and container. C. If the tow truck is required he cleans up the mess, if not, the accident victims using the police equipment do the job. D. The sergeant in charge of this department should make spot checks to evaluate his men on the cleaning up. I have seen some ter- rible messgs left behind including such things as bumpers and wheels. I trust action will be taken to make people fulfill their obliga- tions. Happy motoring to you all. Albert E. Putsey, Caesarea. Thanks to Brian | Mulroney To the Editor: Thank you, Mr. Prime Minister. You have just dug the political grave of Ross Stevenson (MP Durham riding) .
