The frugal mayor! Scugog Mayor Howard Hall and Regional rep Yvonne Christie were among the more frugal members of Durham council when it came to spending on conferences, con- ventions and meetings last year. Figures released by the Region's finance department last week show Mayor Hall spent $197 on conferences, while councillor Christie spent Thbugh they are entitled to do o neither Scugog reps collected any money from the Region for meeting expenses to cover such things as mileage and meals. Many Regional councillors collected nothing over and above their salaries, according to the report. ' Others, however, claimed considerable expenses for meetings, conferences and conventions. My last few outings on Lake Scugog have been fairly successful with virtually all the action coming while jigging anything that had chartreuse on it.
