The Friday night game was an example of how hockey should not be played. The game took almost three hours to play due to fights and penalties. Ernestown picked up with the nonsense where they left off the previous game and unfortunately, the Port squad rose to the bait. Until this series, Key Bar has had very few games where hockey took a back seat to fighting and goon style y. d Friday night's goals were scored by Ethan Lavereau, Steve Staniland, Todd Taylor with two, Jan Heyes, Gerry Douma, Scott Porter and Craig Leask. Assists went to Scott Menzies with three, John Ennis with two, Mike Sorley with two, Gerry Douma with two, Derek "Fitzgerald and Gary Stevens with singles. Napanee went ahead 3-0 and seemed to have the game pretty much under control before Brad Johnston fired a wrist shot from the right side to make it 3-1 with Justin Kowalczyk drawing the assist. Early in the third, Seth Grey fed Dillon Weber, who in turned 'passed to Casey VanShagen and the margin was 3-2. But Napanee pulled ahead 5-2 on a couple of quick goals, both off breakaways and with time ticking away, things didn't look too promising for the boys in But "never-say-die" is the motto and Kowalczyk flagged down a clearing pass and slipped it over the Gray who made no mistake to make it 5-3. With just under four minutes left Justin Sheehey went into the Napanee zone, fed the puck to Kowalczyk at the point and he wired a wrist shot at the net that was tipped by Weber. Just 24 seconds later Jones was able to jam one under the goalie to tie the game with Derek Tindall and Scofit Jeffrey getting the assists. The ten-minute OT period was an old-fashioned nail-biter as Napanee was playing for the tie and Port had to play for the victo- With under four minutes to play, Lyons found Jones in front of the net. He was knocked down, but somehow from his knees man- aged to fire the puck home for the 4-3 wi ory and the 5th game Sunday Daniel i faced 24 shots in the Port net, while his mates fired 38 on the Napanee cage.
