Ann Barrett, Animal Control Officer. Children hear and see all kinds of issues To the editor: 1 would like to respond to the letter to the editor in the June 30 edition of the Scugog Citizen by Jil McIntosh entitled "are chil- dren pawns in the abortion debate?" in which the writer dis- agrees with children' being involved in the Life Chain held on June 4. This is the second year we have been to this hour-long, well- organized and peaceful demon- Eric, 12, and Lacy, 16, can hardly walt to try It out. Town Hall 1873 Town Hall 1873 celebrates its second decade with a fabylous line-up of tal- ent. The 1992-92 concert \ series features Michael ~Daniso, The Toronto Consort, The Beaver/Parker Duo and Viveza. 2. Square Boy Pizza & Subs: Mexican Pizza! A secret blend of ground beef, spices, onions and toma- stration of our concern over the practice of doing abortions, and we were again joined by many of our feflow parishioners, friends and other children along with a few thousand people from all over Durham Region, forming a cross along Highway 2 and Simcoe Street in Oshawa. It is refreshing to know, that yes, children do understand that "abortion kills children" and are not yet swayed by the "adult arguments" and "opinions" that try to justify the killing of chil- dren before birth. A» Children also see and hear ugh the media about all kinds f issues affecting lives today. They ask questions if they don't understand what it's all about and we try to give them answers. Just as environmental issues are a concern, human rights issues are more of a concern. Disrespect for human life in the womb leads to disrespect for life at other stages. We try to teach them to value life from conception to natural death and in between no matter how worthless it may seem. With all the different opinions out there regarding abortion, the fact remains that, as the sign said, "abortion kills children." The other sign, partly hidden from view in the Citizen photo reads, "Jesus forgives ard heals." We don't leave our children at home when we go to church and wait until they have formed their opinions about church and God before they go with us. We teach them now what it means to us and then they wil form their own informed opinions as they grow up. Regina Gedge, Port Perry. Thanks for helping with Caesarea fireworks' To the editor: Re: The Caesarea fire works by the CCHA and the LSRA I would like to extend my sincere thanks to several people for their work on this project. The two stars of the night were Brandi Boardman who kept the children occupied, followed by Rick Armour and his guitar music. Thanks to Ward 4 councillor David Dietlein for help us I'm sorry. Those who thought the stage was incorrectly located were incorrectly located themselves. Everyone was expected to bring their own lawn chairs. The white tables and chairs were for customers of the snack bar. Thank you one and all for your efforts and for coming out. B.A.D. stands for 'books and drama'. This new pro- gram is for kids who like to read and express themselves through drama and are not currently involved in a theatre group in town. Using 'take part' story scripts, children will prepare some of their favourite stories for presen- 4ation to their own friends and families. A 'story festival' day will be planned if enough mem- bers are available to participate. Linda Baca, children's librarian, would like the program to contin- ue in the fall if membership can be maintained. You don't need to be Kevin Costner, Macaulay Culkin, Paula Abdul or Michelle Pfeiffer,.to be a STAR, you can be one at Scugog Library. & -
