It was back in 1971 when Judy MacColl was instrumental in getting this service off the ground and a few years later, the Community Care organization took over the service. It's fair to say that in those two decades, thousands of hot, nutritious meals have been delivered to seniors and those with special needs. September 20-26 is Meals on Wheels Week, and Community Care director Dorothy Imperial said this is an ideal time to express appreciation to the volunteers who deliver the meals. "The program would not go without the volunteers," she said. And at this time, Community Care needs volunteer drivers to help out with Meals on Wheels Monday, Wednesday and Friday at noon hour. If you think you can help, call 985-8461. Mrs. Imperial said volunteers can work as often as they choose. Not only do they deliver the meals, they take the time for a visit as many of the clients live alone. The companionship of a regular visitor helps keep their spirits u Vivian Rider, right, has been a Meals on Wheels volunteer driver In Scugog Township for the past 7 years.
