Hunt/fish licenses to change The Ministry of Natural Resources is moving ahead with plans to introduce a new card- based licensing system for Ontari®'s 1.5 million resident anglers and hunters. The Outdoors Card system will come into effect January 1, 1993, the first day of the sportsfishing license year. Under this new system, Ontario residents will need the card to buy a licence and to legally hunt and fish in 1993. This new card will be valid for three years and will serve as an identity card. It cost $6, including the GST. "MNR is introducing the card to make the Ontario sportfishing and hunting licence system more efficient for hunters, anglers and licence issuers," said minister Bud Wildman. "It is also a response to a long standing request by Ontario's hunters and anglers for a more accurate and practical way of issuing and controlling licences." Under the new system, most forms of angling and hunting licences will be paperless. The new licences will be stickers attached to the back of the card. With the card, hunters and anglers will be able to purchase most of their licences at the same time. In appearance, the Outdoors Card will resemble a bank or credit card. The front will carry the name and description of the licence holder. The reverse will have a magnetic stripe and space for licence renewal stickers. They must be carried at all times when hunting and fishing. While two distinctive cards are being issued--one for resident anglers and for resident hunters--individuals will only need one card, since hunters will be able to use their hunting card to buy a resident sport fishing licence. The hunting Outdoors card will be used to certify a person's eligibility to hunt. In November, MNR will mail Outdoors Card application forms to current licence holders. Card applications will also be available from MNR offices and licence issuers in November. For 1993, the cards will be issued to Ontario residents only. Paper licences will still be sold to non-resident anglers and hunters for the present time. d Furniture Girls U- 16 soccer team travelled to Ajax on September 10 for a sudden death semi final playoff game. The team finished in second place in an eight team league with 10 wins 3 losses and 1 tie against teams from Ajax, Pickering and Whitby. The league selects playoff opponents by drawing names from a hat, and as a result, Homestead had to play first place Ajax. Mari Farquharson opened the scoring with a nice chip shot to put Homestead up 1-0, but from this point on it was all downhill. The referee had it in for H d and called penalties which no one knew what the calls were for while not calling 6 hand balls, 3 knocking downs from behind and 2 trips against Ajax. This all led to Ajax scoring 7 goals to win 7-1. It was a shame to see a referee destroy 'a team which exemplifies true sportsmanship and fair play. Some Ajax parents couldn't believe the display put on by this referee. Maybe Homestead didn't win the league but in the eyes of Scugog Soccer Club, they are #1. Thanks for a good seasqn. Nestileton lob-ball Round two in the playoffs for the Nestleton Mens Lob Ball League was held over the weekend with the following results. Port Perry IGA nipped Oppers Aluminum 8-7, Dave's Contracting had the bats working and the defense solid as they pounded Nestleton Country Store 16-zip. And the scoring barrage continued as Kirby Structures scored four touchdowns and a' field goal to defeat Ron Lee Water Supply 31-5. Janetville, perhaps still smarting over an earlier loss to Oppers, fired up the bats for a 21- 5 victory over Classic Aluminum. i ing lo Canedlins REHABILITATION ASSISTAN COLETTEGR 1-416-4 CMHC 8" SCHL HOMEOWNERS DO YOU QUALIFY FOR LY JeleloH ASSISTANCE FOR HOME REPAIRS? f AND HOUSING CORPORATION ANY ERNE BB CO CY Question habitation, complez sur nous CANADA MORTGAGE RESIDENTIAL E PROGRAM (RRAP 04-0020 Canad White Vinyl Only (D-4 Limited Time Offer Manufacturer's Warehouse (oo M7. 27.1, [ed = or D-5) per sq 53.95 Limited WINDOWS & PATIO DOORS ~ EN DAAFTS tnd ALCAN 8H SER ONTARIO "(on select products for Allen's Siding Products Sales & Installation y DOORS - WINDOWS - TROUGH - ADDITIONS - SOLARIUMS ' Ab, . and INCREASE TEASE WARMTIL Wilkbows REBATE" PORT PERRY (416) 985-3333
