Following the approval elections took place to form a Board of Directors for PEST. Twelve people were elected to sit on the Board. The organizers of the meeting were disappointed with the turnout of people; about forty were in attendance. Mr. Carruthers stated he felt "it wasn't fair to have the landowners on site and those in the primary impact zone be subjected to a further delay of two months to announce the Short List." Ken Carruthers will be available to help as an ex-officio officer. The new Board of Directors will be holding its first meeting Tuesday, October 6th, 1992 in the downstairs of the Prince Albert Hall. Police charge five teens Quick action by a Port Perry woman and Durham Police led to the arrest last week of five local teen-agers who are now facing numerous charges related to break and enters over the last few months. A Police spokesman said the four boys and one girl were arrested in downtown Port Perry last Tuesday afternoon. All are youthfull offenders and their identities can't be made public. They were charged after a mid- day break-in at a home on Crandell Street. The woman who lives there surprised intruders who walked through the back door into the kitchen. She immediately phoned 911 and the intruders fled the home. Several Durham Police officers responded to the call and a short while later the five were apprehended in the downtown area. They were identified by the Crandell Street resident. Durham Police Inspector Ross Smith said that as a result of the arrests, 11 instances of residential break-ins in Port Perry have been "cleared," and the five are facing a total of 25 ¢harges in connection with the break-ins. Inspector Smith said a "very small quantity" of stolen property was recovered. Meanyhile, Police report a day- light break-in Oct. 2 at a home on Brook St. Prince Albert. A quantity of cigarettes was stolen Oct. 3 after a house at Portview Beach was entered via the kitchen window. And Police say a home on Durham Road 57 was entered the same day with a quantity of household items reported missing. Fifteen words. Five 'bucks.
