I have no ideas what they ate or did Friday night but we came to play with few practices to formulate our plays. we went on the knowledge and ability to play. Our first game against Immaculate Conception Church league from Peterborough was quite a test although we came together, played well and almost won. The final score was 3-2 for Peterborough. Goals in this first game was scored by our Captain Justin Halligan with an assist to Gavin Baxter, and the other goal by Troy Campbell fram Halligan and Derek Tindall. The second game to see who would go on to the consolation final was against Manvers who had previously beaten us in league play last Sunday. Obviously the boys came to play as we went out in style by a 3-0 score. Port Perry goals were scored by Justin Halligan unassisted, and the other two goals were scored by Derek Tindall with assists going to Scott Sanderson and Troy Campbell. Manvers came back ith two goals late in the game it was not enough, as we not only won our first game but we were'now in the consolation final. The first win of the season was well celebrated in the dressing r with loud music and lots of chatter. The final game of the day was against Lindsay. We lost the game 4-3 after leading midway through the third period. We started to run out of gas but we still gave it our all. The geal scorers in this game were Aaron Levy from Cory Wiatrzyk and Adam Hobbs. The second goal A big first for the Doors was scored by Justin Halligan from Dave Gainey and Wyatt Park. The third goal was by Troy Campbell from Derek Tindall. Special mention has to go to Shane Savage who won the . MVP for the final game. Ron accounted for 5 goals and 3 assists while Nick tallied 1 goal and aided on an additional 6. Linemate Ken Lynde was not totally forgotten as he netted 2 and assisted 2 more. The remaining goals went to Perry Mason, with further assists going to Murray Down with 2, and singles going to Chris Lepine, goaltender Jim Mason, Rick Mitchell, and Jason Lee. Emmerson got their markers from James Hudgins and Les Allen. Mike Jones, Danny Brown, Joe Parkinson, and Mike Roy all picked up assists. The final outcome of game 3 was an identical score of the first game as Blackstock Brewers stopped the previous undefeated Woody's 3-1. Ron Redman set- up Tom Wotten early in the second frame to get Blackstock on the board first. This was shortlived however as Woody's retaliated with a 2 man advantdge 2 minutes later when Larry Maarse netted one from Neil Woodrow and Gene Woodrow. Again Blackstock pulled ahead when Ron Short flipped one in from Wotten with 6:44 left to play in regulation time. In the dying seconds Kevin Grieve fired-one into the vacated net for the clincher.
