wp 23-- Scugog Citizen -- Tuesday , Oclober 37, 1093 du Techstar On Wednesday evening the Techstar Plastics Bantam "B's" were at home to Sunderland. The first five minutes were a bit scrambly as each team was feeling the other out. Port drew first blood when Gord Bentley blasted in a Jeff Jamieson pass back to the point to take an early lead. Sunderland knotted it at one on the power play when Jamie Trick found himself stranded behind the net. Sunderland pulled ghead early in the second after some strong work by their big forward number 66. Port was able to pull even Bantam B's run into a tough opponent shortly after on the powerplay when Matt Hobbs tucked one under the top shelf after some nifty work by Devon Blair and Greg Thompson. It was at this point that Sunderland got untracked and proceeded to score five unanswered goals to lead 7-2 midway through the third. Port managed to reply twice before the final bell in goals by Matt Hobbs from Thompson and Phillips and Matt Phillips closed .but the scoring on a fine individual effort. Although there were brief flashes of brilliance, generally the team appeared sluggish, nn Township of Scugog 77 FALL LEAF perhaps preoccupied with World Series Action. Techstar hit the road on Sunday and were hosted by Lindsay in what would prove to be Port's best effort to date Although a bit bleary eyed from watching the Blue Jays put away the Braves the night before, the team hit the ice firing on all cylinders. Jon Jamieson put us on the board early in the first with help from brother Jeff and Matt Phillips. Hard work paid off here and the line was rewarded when the Lindsay goalie finally relented. Lindsay tied it less than five minutes later when they caught us during a line change. The first period ended with the score tied at one but Port clearly outshot the opposition and only good goaltending kept the score oven Techstar scored twice in the second on markers by Daryl Moase from Todd Parry and Gord Bentley on the power play and a fine shorthanded tally by Kevin Gray with help from the Jamieson brothers. Dylan Ferguson went the distance in goal and had little difficulty against Lindsay's offence. Special mention to Matt Hobbs in this one as he seemed to be all over the ice KARL HERDER CONSTRUCTION LTD. Busy week for Legion It has been a busy week for the Pee Wee Legion team with 4 games, starting with last Tuesday We put up a good fight and had 3 goals by Daryl McEaney, Seth Gray and Rob Murphy. Assists went to Scott Heffern and Mike Morden. The final score was obscured by the carbon paper, but we lost. But, things turned around Priday as we hosted Oshawa Bruins and came away with a 3- 3 tie. This was one of our better games so far and the boys controlled most of the play Goals went to Rob Murphy, Daryl Robinson and Danny Lyons and assists to Jay Strickert (2), Scott Jeffery and Rob Murphy Our third game was Saturday against Oshawa Black Hawks and was better yet. There was a lot of action and the coaches credited this to be a practice one hour before the game. The boys had a 4-1 win with goals by Scott Heffern, Seth Gray and Shane Norton (2). Assists went to Daryl McEnaney (2), Mike Morden (2), Rob Murphy, Danny Lyons, Scott Jeffery and Mike Heasman Sunday we visited Uxbridge and this was the best yet, with a very hard hitting game and lots of action at both goals. We held in for a 3-1 win, with goals going to Scott Heffern (2) and Danny Lyons. Assists went to Daryl McEnaney, Danny Robinsen, Shane Norton, Colin Laird, Kent Johnston (2) and Adam Jones Kent Johnston and Luke Carnaghan have been outstanding in goal. If not for their heads-up play and good reflexes, these wins could easily have gone the other way. IT'S THE BEST BUYERS' MARKET IN ALMOST 20 YEARS! TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT!
