Citizen - Legion close to playoff victory It's been an exciting week of hockey for the Port Perry Pee Wee Legion team as they have started playoffs against a much improved Stouffville club. The first game on Sunday, Jan. 24 saw a back and forth battle which ended in a 1-1 tie. Daryl McEnaney picked up our only goal unassisted. The next game was Monday and it ended 2-1 with Daryl getting both goals and Rob Murphy assisting in one. The third game on Friday saw Port jump into a 5-1 lead, but saw it dwindle to 5-4 in the third period. Scoring was done by Jay Strickert, Rob Murphy, Daryl McEnaney (2) and Scott Heffern. Scott also got an ty assist with Mike Heasman getting 2, Seth Gray (1), and Daryl (1) The fourth game on Sunday was one-sided as Port took control from the first drop of the puck and handed Stouffville a 6-0 defeat. Rob Murphy counted 3, Daryl once, Scott Heffern one and Adam Jones one. Scott picked up 3 assists, Adam (2), Jay (1) and Daryl (2) The boys need a win or a tie on Wednesday at home to move on to the second round. The goal tending has been shared by Kent and Luke as usual and the boys have both been equal to the task. Only 6 goals in 4 games. Good job boys! YMCA Floor Hockey results The Leafs and the Canadiens played to a 4-2 final score in favour of the Leafs on Monday, January 25. Tyler Houthuys started things off for the Canadiens in the first period. David Halward scored the Leafs tying goal late in the first period. In the second period of this 2 period game, David Halward fired in 2 more goals to give him a hat trick. Lindsay Carr added one more for the Leafs, bringing their total to 4. Tyler Houthuys scored the Canadiens second goal. The 1st Intermediate game saw the Red Wings meet the Golden Rods. This goal gave Chris a hat trick The 2nd Intermediate game was a match between the Blue Bombers and the Mighty Ducks. Blue Bombers 6 - Mighty Ducks 11 The first period ended in a 3 all tie. Matthew MacMaster started things of for the Blue Bombers with 2 goals and Jonathon Rogalski added the third Scoring for the Mighty Ducks were Matt Brown, Evan Bertrand and Jason Lown Matthew MacMaster earned himself a hat trick by scoring the Bombers only second period goal. Ryan Jansen popped in goal #4 for the Mighty Ducks with Evan Bertrand firing in numbers 5 and 6. Evan's lst, second period goal, was assisted by Eric Bird. The third period turned out to be a busy one with Jeff Kane and Adam Youmans scoring for the Bombers. Matt Brown, Eric Bird, Jason Lown (2 goals) and Evan Bertrand all scored in the third period for Might Ducks. Evan Bertrand and Jason Lown both earned a hat trick in this game.
