New Area business wins award by Heather McCrae The OGS Landscape Do It Centre in Brooklyn received a very prestigious award and trophy February 26 The trophy and certificate were presented to two key employees, Anna Trevor- Wilson and Louise Thibert These women took on the challenge last year of entering the Flower Bulb Display competition. This contest originated from the International Flower Bulb Centre (IFBC) in Hillegom, Holland. The whole concept of the competition is to give an award to the store that displays best to the public its collection of fall bulbs, such varieties as tulips, daffodils, crocuses and hyacinths. The contest acts as an incentive, encouraging retailers to present their product effectively and attractively. It makes a store more inviting for the consumer to shop in Anna Trevor-Wilson of Prince Albert and Louise Thibert of Oshawa took up the challenge and entered the competition. They presented their talents in an attractive scene of a fall 'country market' centre, complete with bales of straw, Louise Thibert (left) and Anna Trevor-Wilson, employees at the OGS Landscape Do tt Centre, In Brooklin were awarded a first place trophy and certificate recently for their creativity In a bulb display. Bob LaRue, of the International Flower Bulb Centre In New Jersey made the presentation. See story. "Yor Hone GngUp nS? FOR THE COST OF 10 PACKS of CIGARETTES, YOU COULD BE AN ... EX-SMOKER! Their display added a personal touch to the OGS Landscape Do It Centre, making it a more pleasing place for the consumer to purchase their fall plantings The award is strictly for presentation of the product, not for high volume sales, according to Bob LaRue, the North American Merchandising Consultant for IFBC Pictures of the display and a typewritten presentation, complied by the two women and Rick Pecman, who was then the manager of OGS, were mailed to the judge's headquarters in the US Throughout Canada there are a total of three 1992 'first place' winners. This is a first for the OGS Landscape Do It Centre and also for Canada as our country has never before rated a first prize entry Interestingly, all the judges were from the US The other two 'first prize' trophies and certificates were awarded to Loblaws on Dixon Road in Toronto and Geineau Bouquet a home centre in Montreal The women onginally learned of their success in early February and they're quite. pleased, to say the least, to be first in the country to receive this honour. Already they're making plans and changes for this year's competition. Regardless, if you've been a previoud winner, contestants can still enter the competition year after year. The ting on the certificate says it all. Issued to Anna and Louise, it reads "for outstanding creativity at the Point of Sale, utilizing effective presentation techniques to attract and inform retail customers." Signed, the International Flower Bulb Centre in Hillegom, Holland These two women made it all happen. Their entire presentation is now filed at the International headquarters in the Netherlands PORT Pe AUTO oy & Do. valued at $300. : FREE Windshield Repla .
