Van Camp wins Blackstock curling Richard VanCamp, Keith VanCamp and Merlin Suggitt started the night tied for first place and the club championship on the line. It was certain that the winner could not be Richard or Merlin since they were playing each other on sheet three Merlin jumped into an early lead and after five ends had it won for fun with a nine to two lead Tony Duivesteyn was skipping Richard's squad tonight with Richard vicing Things looked rather black for them but they did not give up and took two in the sixth and then whammitty bam stole five in the seventh and another in the eighth for the win. On sheet two Peter Luckhardt and Gerald Kelly fought to a tie and Peter persevered for the win in an extra end. Meanwhile on ice one, the evening's play had not been completed. Cam Porter is a tough competitor at anytime Lob Ball sign-up The Scugog Youth Lob Ball Assoc. will be holding registrations for the coming season. Teen-agers (male and female) interested in joining the Lob Ball Assoc. should get in touch with convenor John Dawson at 985-8843, or they can register in person at Mr. Dawson's home at 13930 Old Simcoe Street in Prince Albert. but when there is something serious happening watch out. Keith took ends 1,2,4 and 5. Cam wouldn't let him out of sight and snatched back 3,6 and 7 to tie it up coming home. Cam's big problem was that Keith had the hammer and pounded him for three to cap the win. When the smoke had cleared there was a two way tie for wins between Richard and Keith VanCamp. Final calculations showed Keith had accumulated one half extra point over the season and Keith's team of himself, Rob Archer, Todd Doyle and R.J. Ford were declared the club champions and keepers of the Suggitt trophy. What a great year of curling we have had. Merlin Suggitt's almost undefeated March for the first half club championship, The Fletcher Bonspiel, the challenge and now a fight to the finish championship for the Suggitt trophy, our scramble night on March 156 and the Kelly Spiel on March 22-23. Next year should be even better with an expanded challenge and the addition of the "cash spiel" between Christmas and New Year's. A regular junior league will be held after school on Tuesdays and we hope a junior team will join the men's league. This 18 our last report for this year but watch out for our ads in the fall and come on out and be a part of it. Final standings to March 8: Suggitt - 3 wins; R. VanCamp - 4 wins; K. VanCamp - 4 wins (club championship); Porter - 1 win; Kelly - 1 win; Luckhardt - 2 wins. - Scugog Citizen -- Tuesday, March 16, 1993-- 31 _4 140 Bond Street West, Oshawa 6) 686-1311 (416) 725-6501 A[e]fela} [eX 137 {e]R 3} OLDSMOBILE CADILLAC CHEVY TRUCKS i plus taxes Based on 48 month lease $750. down payment, interest rate 4.1%.
