With Whitby goalie Cary Cleyndert not able to come, Ryan Fraser played goal. What a game for a first-time goalie. The Lions Club came out flying and pressing in Whitby's end. Ryan made four big stops keeping Lions Club off the score sheet. Mike Wadsworth, the goalie for Lions Club, made bog saves on Whitby. The two friends from Greenbank were trying to out-do each other. At 2:29 left in the second, the new line of Nick Ostafichuk, Russ Brown and Jamie Page were working their butts off. And the hard work paid off. With Russ in the corner making a perfect pass to Jamie, who made no mistake as he beat Mike. With the new line of Cam Vernest, Jon Sanders and Reid McTaggart working hard, Jon passed to Cam in the corner of the rink, who banked one off Mike's skate and into the net making it 2-0 for Whitby. With 61 seconds left in the second, Lion Dan Minnon , carried the puck up the ice behind Whitby's net and fed a perfect pass to lan Bonsar to beat Ryan in the top corner. At 9:20 of the third, Whitby's Russ Brown made another perfect pass to Jamie Page who scored his second of the game. Reid McTaggart, playing forward, scored his first of the year with a great shot to the top corner , with assist going to Jon Sanders Alex McLaughlin looked really good playing defense. The line-up of Beau Jolicoeur, Chris Thompson and Jeff Danilko worked really hard but had no points. Good luck to all the teams in the playoffs and the upcoming tournament. IGA girls lose 3-1 to Scarborough The high winds and icy roads made for a long trip to Scarborough on Sunday morning for the IGA Ringette playoff game. Due to March Break, illness and severe weather we arrived with seven skaters. The team called up Genni Taylor from the Pine Ridge Tweens to play goal for us. Although she was nervous it didn't show as she played brilliantly slapping many shots. The 1.G.A. girls deserve a lot of credit for playing their hearts out in front of Genni. The final score ended 3-1 for Scarborough. This was a must win for them and they needed their 3 lines to beat us. The defense of Lisa Dodd, Terry Rooney and Mary Lee checked great. The forwards were Lindsay Patton, Lynda Payne, Heather Lally and Sarah Cayne.
