Borelians to stage "old-fashioned" show Remember curling up in front of the television every Sunday night to take in that king of the variety shows: "The Ed Sullivan Show"? Remember wondering with anticipation what smorgasbord of entertainment would be featured; which singers, dancers or musicians would be offered up as the next act on that evening's fare? It was fond memories such as these which sparked enthusiasm for the Borelians upcoming one- night production "That's Entertainment '93": a show which aims to recreate the old- fashioned variety show which was so popular in the '60's and early '60s. And " variety is the key word" say the show's organizers, Kellea Passmore and Bunty Webb who have been.working hard to round up a variety of performances which include singers, dancers, actors and musicians. "It will be a show comprised of many short acts little nuggets of entertainment, one after another, each to be enjoyed for their own worth," says Ms Passmore. "The only thing common to each act is the consistent level of quality: it's all top-notch!" Though the ladies would not give away their line-up of performers (after all, anticipation is part of the fun of the variety show) they did say that all participants hail from the Durham area. "It never fails to amaze me how much talent there "Do It Today ... Ernie Duncan is on our doorstep," says Ms Webb. "Our difficulty was not in finding enough good acts; it was in accommodating the many that were available." The variety show comes at a very appropriate time for the Borelians. Recently their play "Night of January 16th" was selected to represent the community theatres of central Ontario in the province-wide Theatre Ontario festival to be held in Peterborough in the near future. It is their hope that this variety night will help offset the costs of moving this production. Many local theatre members have pulled together to help in this community endeavour. They ask that support be shown by ttending "That's Enter ent 93", to be held on May 15, 8:00 p.m. at Town Hall 1873. Tickets are $10.00 (seats are not reserved) and are available by calling Norma VanCamp at 985- 3527 or Bunty Webb at 985-8154. In return, the Borelians promise an evening of uplifting entertainment!
