This racquet sport looked like a lot of fun and since the community courts were a mere few blocks away from his home (in North York), he and his friends soon got together often to "hit the ball". Since then his interest in the sport has expanded apd-David has been playing tennis for ten years. He began teaching tennis skills five years ago at the North York Tennis Club and was in charge of the junior program at Gwendolen Park Tennis Club in Toronto. David, 20, has been hired by the Port Perry Tennis Club . acting as the club instructor this summer. Offering lessons to juniors and adults, which started May 11, David will also be the instructor-in-charge at the three-week tennis camp for young people being held this July at the courts. David thinks the junior development in any club is necessary, after all these people are the future of the club or organization. Four ygars ago, through the Ontario Tennis Association (OTA) David was able to achieve his Level 1 coach. He's currently working on his Coach 2 status, having already taken the clinical and theory but still has to take his practical and written exam at the National Tennis Centre at York LONG WEEKEND SPECIALS Fri., AV IR CETTE #11 5) [ 103 Md HES TC ETH Patio Tomatoes (while supplies last) Reg University and hopes to fulfil this coaching level this fall. David's been very athletic all his life, playing basketball, baseball, rugby, soccer and, of course, tennis) He was the "Athlete of the Year" in grade 13 at Earl Haig High School, "Enthusiasm is the key word for playing tennis, or any sport, at any age or level" says David and he feels that whatever you put into this "sport of a lifetime" is what you get out of it. While his younger sister isn't as keen as her brother about tennis, they do tend to "hit the ball" the odd time when he's home. Living with his grandmother, Edith Davis, on Scugog Island this summer, David will be attending his second year at the University of Guelph this fall. The people of Scugog will see a lot of David this summer, either at the courts or at the Western Spurs restaurant where he works as a waiter. By calling 985-9558, you can set up private, semi-private or group lessons. David enjoys working with people of all ages and enjoys seeing people reach their goals in tennis. we VICTORIA DAY id FEATURING: E580 PROTEC/BF GOODRICH F1600 SERIES SECKENS F1800 CHAMPIORSIIP 1 MOSPORT INTERWATTIONAL VESESPEEOIAY MAY 22, 23 1993 SATURDAY NIGHT: LATE MODEL, STREET STOCK, THUNDERCAR SUNDAY NIGHT: ACT / GM GOODWRENCH TOUR SAT.
