mp" Scugog Citizen -- Tuesday, July 6, 1993 -- 23 --= Scugog soccer leagues have a kick Under 7's Brian's Towing edged out Lake Scugog Lumber, 1-0, on June 30. Good goaltending by Jennifer Edwards and James Donaldson led the shutout. The goal was by Kenneth Britt, on a nice pass by Justin Cottrell. Lake Scugog Lumber, also known ad "D"Tips" are improving each week. D'Tips coaching staff would like to thank parents Rob, Dave and Don for their involvement. On the field Chris Boomhour exhibited good leadership. Jeff Rankin, Sean Murray and Andrew Adams showed excellent intensity. The Port Perry Lions won their first game of the season against Twice Told Tales. Simon Renison got his first goal of the season, and Brent Wagg also scored. Michael Richard made some great saves, and Cindy Howard is showing improvement. Kyle Geer picked up the point for Twice Told Tales. Davin Michel played a flawless first half in net, and Kathy Wanamaker and Elissa Beelby were showing some speed. Port Perry Printing suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of the Manvers Tikes, 3-1. Travis McCabe collected two points, and Darryl Short got one. Wesley Cook got the lone marker for the printers, assisted by Shannon Branton and Glen Powell. Despite the loss Tara Hutchins and-Paul Jewel played well in net. Erica Bulloch enjoyed her first game ever, and looks very promising. Under 9 Under 9 action took place on June 29, when Haugen's Hexges edged out Waterfront Under 6 action This week there are just the three games to report. On field #1 J&D Carpentry hosted the team from the 1.G.A. and came out on top by a score of 5-1. Zachary Will managed to put the ball in four times with Danielle Bourgeois scoring the other. The other players on the . team with good games were Dustin Curran, Cody Bowan, Corey Marlow and Tory Ramsay. The I.G:A. team was good in keeping the ball moving but were stopped on many good scoring attempts. On field #2 Air Durham played the Laurentian Bankers with the Bankers coming out on top by a score of 2-0. This game had lots of end to end action with several good plays and good efforts going to Devin Colston, Benjamin Mutton and Graeme Fleming for the Air Durham squad. For the Laurentian team a combination of good goal- tending by Stefan and Jesse as well as scoring by Michael Wilson and Kirk Stevens helped them come out on top. On field #3 Royal Canadian Legion played Big V with the Legion coming away big winners 4-0. An excellent game despite what the score might indicate with good games played by Troy Wagg and Irene Watson for the winners. For the Big V team goaltender Michael McKenna was called upon many times coming up with plenty of big saves, good games go to Kimberley Wilson and Samuel Guenther. Kyle Marlow and Richard Brazier split the goaltending duties for Tim's, and both made some brilliant stops. Laura Batterink also played a strong game in her defensive role. Darlene Colton Photography again steamrolled their opposition, this week Second Hand for Kids. Justin Shinn got a hat trick, and Matthew Kamminga doubled that. James Colton did well in net, and Howie Gordon demon- strated good passing. Spencer Churchill and Taylor Ramsay each notched a point for Second Hand for Kids. Derek Young was very brave in goal. Graeme McNab and Amy Evans hustled well. Raglan® Welding was successful in their bid against Subby's Submarine, 4-1. Garbiel Benchop scored his first goal of the season, and then added a second! Joseph Kozlinsky also s: two, and must have set a recorded for the number of times he hit the crossbar. Lori Powell and Grace Michel had some good scoring opportunities, and Evan Powell was effective on defence. Scott Symes and Jamie Corneal were super net minders. Nelson Langmaid kept Subby's'from being shut out with his goal, with help from Pat Lewis and Brent Meeking. Adam Smart and Brandon Davis were tireless on defence. Mr. Sub fell behind Manvers, 4-2. Manvers goals were scored by Melissa Spearing, Zach Goff, Russell McGrath, and Joel Ward. Tricia Cowie also looks to be up-and-coming. Manvers and Van Camp Contracting also tied their match, 2-2. It was a back and forth contest with Jamie Cameron scoring first for Manvers, followed by Clayton Gilmour for Van Camp. Steven Stiner put Manvers ahead, isted by Jamie C. but that goal was answered by David Halward for an exciting finish. On Thursday Van Camp suffered their first loss of the season, to the Legal Eagles, 3- 1 Trevor Lance picked up two points, and Jason Howarth also scored for the Eagles.
