Lots of winners at Garden club's show On Tuesday, July 6, the Pine Ridge Garden Club held it's monthly meeting at the Nestleton Hall. Regular business was conducted and the winners of our Annual Flower and Vegetable Gardens were announced. In the Flower Garden category, Grace Bajema took the first place honours. Second was awarded to Tettje Prins. Third place winner was Dini Oosterholt. In the Vegetable Garden category, first place went to Joe and Dini Oosterholt, second to Joe and Rika Wygerde and third to Grace Bajema. The judges for the event were Bert and Joan Dickie of the Pefferlaw Garden Club. As part of our monthly meeting. the members then car-pooled and took a tour of the award winning gardens. It was easy to see why the gardens mentioned above were the award winners. Our July 6 meeting was our Annual Summer Show, also known as our Rose, Flower and Vegetable Show. Clarification on fire story A story in the July 6 edition of the Citizen about a kitchen fire in a home on Queen Street needs clarification. The blaze started in an appliance for heating small amounts of water. It was plugged into the wall, but the switch had not been left on.
