It was during the Christmas season of 1986 when Sara Newman, a young Brownie from Bunny Rowlands Third Port Perry Pack wrote her cousin, Lynn-Marie Wickhim, the ocean, is currently in her seventh year serving as Division Commissioner and has served as a Guide leader over the years as well. In 1991 the West Sussex Girl Guide Council, of which Carol is a member, invited Bunny, Bev Dawson and five pathfinders to attend the Laser International Event in +h who was in Carol Wi 's First Bersted Brownie Pack in England. In return, Carol sent a letter and photo of her pack to Bunny and the two women have corresponded ever since. Both women have made guiding a part of their lives. While Bunny has been a Brownie leader for many years, she has also just terminated a five year role as International adviser on the Ontario Division Council, and is currently a Sparks leader in Port Perry. Carol, on the other side of REp,, to 0 all pq ang M, Hosted by English families before and after camp, the group from Port Perry also had the opportunity to visit London for three days. Last month our British visitors were guests of Margaret Bradford, the Commissioner with the Ridgehill Division in Ottawa. But Carol felt she couldn't Torin home withouffh visit 10 Mp friand in ry, so, Wter placing a call to Bunny, saying "we're coming, will you have us?", plans got underway to a guiding wWRs oaks reunion. Highlights of the group's visit to Ottawa included having tea with the British High Commissioner, His 'Excellency Sir Nicholas P. Bayne and a tour of the Parliament Buildings. Arriving at the Emmanual Pentecostal Church in Port Perry on August 2, Mayor Howard Halland guiding officials were on hand to themat ar Carol says her group had to raise 6,000 pounds ($16,000 Can.) to-make this trip a reality. Their seaside town of Bagnor Regis of about 30,000 people has a high percentage of unemployment and the recession has caused the closing of many shops and factories but the people "opened their wallets and contributed éither in money or merchandise to be raffled off, with the monies raised going toward our trip overseas." Carol also made an appeal to the International Lions Club, Rotary Club and the Round Table. Our British visitors have enjoyed special times with their host families, day of sight seeing at Niagara Falls and, of course, plenty of shopping in town and in Toronto. Cathie Fleming, one of the guides from Britain, attended the weekend Ontario Division Composite Camp in Haliburton last weekend. Carol says, "the people of Canada have opened their doors and hearts to us." The British visitors returned home on August 10 and, no doubt, Bunny and Carol will be drumming up another visit in the not too distant future.
