David Shearman, the new minister. of the Blackstock/Nestleton United Churches. Rev. Shearman, asompanied with his wife, Carol Merton, and sons Mark, 9 and Jason, 14, arrived at the manse in Blackstock on September 1. The family also has a frisky poodle, named Zak, or Zachariah when _he gets into trouble, and two gerbils. Although Rev. Shearman's father was a United Church minister. the thought of entering the ministry never occurred to him until he reached his late teens. . After Rev. Shearman's ordination he was posted at the Perth/Andover charge in New Brunswick where he and a Green light for Fields of Dreams' The Fields of Dreams slo pitch tournament has the support of Scugog Township council, including $2500 in a re-fundable grant. The tournament for the July 1 weekend 1994 will bring 96 mens, ladies and mixed slo pitch teams to Scugog for the largest ever event of this kind in the Township. Organizers Doug Dempsey and Randy Hathaway of the Scugog Mens Slo Pitch League told council Monday afternoon the event is expected fo generate $265,000 in profit that will be used for lights at the three new diamonds behind Scugog Arena. The tournament could bring as many as 6,000 people imto the Township that elm generating upwards of *h million dollars g for businesses. "This is a major project, a good one for the community.
