On Friday night, MoJacks got into a penalty-filled shoot-out in Lakefield and came out of it on the short end of a 9-7 score. Two nights later with four veterans sitting out suspensions, MoJacks got a gritty performance from the rookies and skated the Little Britain Merchants to 2-2 draw. The teams traded goals in the first period with Jeremy Ross " hitting for the MoJacks at 15:54 with help from Kevin McDonald and Jason Qechrane. Chris Lock replied for the Merchants on a set up from Chad Desjardins and Chris Cairns. . MoJacks took a 2-1 lead midway through the second period as rookie Cory Garringer converted a Todd Smart pass {SPORT STATS! Smart worked hard along the boards behind the net to control the: puck and send it in front to Garringer. Garringer and Smart, "teamed most of the time with Ian Titterton, worked hard all game and were an effective unit for the ModJacks. The 2-1 lead stood up until 7:55 of "the third when Jeremy Roberts scored for the Merchants with assists to Jeff Adams and Tyler Jenkins. MoJacks had a couple of chances late in the game to sneak two points when Smart rattled a shot off the iron and Jeremy Ross was stopped on a partial breakaway. A five minute OT period settled nothing as the teams had to be happy with the single point. Rick Hutchinson and Ryan West turned in strong games between the pipes for their teams. There was a pretty good scrap in the second period involving several players from both teams. Duane Empringham, Keith Leslie and Jason Cochrane got the heave for the MoJacks and Cochrane will be out for the next game. Dave Lee, Garry Shaw and Matt Trent were the main combatants for the Merchants. Friday night's game against the Chiefs in Lakefield featured a steady stream of players to the sin bin with double game suspensions to captain Clair Cornish and veterans Todd Dennis, Steve Laird and Shannon Todd.
