It looked as if the tie was going to be broken on a nice pass from Adam Moynes out of the corner to Jason who was in the high spot. But a nice save by the Uxbridge goalie on Jason's top corner shot, thwarted the attack. Our six defencemen worked well tying up the opposition forwards to limit their s to 10, and earn the tie. On Friday Oct. 29 the Oshawa Bruins were in town and the boys pelted the goalies with 33 shots, leading to a 6-1 win. Again it was Billy Carr with the game opener early in the first period. Jason took the initial shot and Billy was in the right spot to tuck away the rebound. Oshawa came right back with the equalizer as the puck was "shoved" under goalie Chris Monsma as he tried to cover it up. The score remained tied until late in the 2nd period when Chris Skerratt connected on a high shot past a falling Oshawa goalie. Jason again initiated the scoring chance when he fed chris the puck on a3 on 1 after drawing the Oshawa defender to himself. The defence were also getting into the offence, taking the opportunity to jump into the attack when the chance arouse. Sean Jeffrey and Dave Justynski led the way with strong rushes. Tim Jones and Joel Thomson were seeing the ice well and providing their forwards with many good cross ice passes to send them into the offensive zone. Matt Cracknell provided defensive support, breaking up several of Oshawa's scoring opportunities. But it was Grant Hooker who gave the team the insurance marker in the third period. After Dane Gray worked the puck back to the point, Grant let a shot go, which the goalie managed to stop. But as luck would have it, there was enough on the shot for it to bounce off of an Oshawa player and into the net. Port Perry's final three goals were all a result of hard work and the use of the entire ice surface in the offensive zone. The fourth goal 'was put in on a rebound by Scott Brownson. Chris Skerratt and Dane provided the assists. The fifth goal was like a page out of team practices. Billy got the puck to Chris on the wing. Chris drove down the boards, delayed to shake two Oshawa defenders and provided a centering pass to Matt MacMaster, who wasted no time unloading a backhand into the back of the net. Adam Moynes finished the scoring by putting our third rebound goal of the night into the net. Jason took the initial shot to earn his third assist of the game. The team played well together, backchecking hard and seeing the open man for the lead passes.
