Big win for Eaglettes The XL Gas Bar Eaglettes, Novice C Ringette team, played their second game on Sunday, November 7 at Scugog Arena The players were able to take the lessons learned in practices onto the ice and win their game against a strong Oshawa team by a score of 3-0. The Port Perry team was backed up by another good performance in goal by Janna Ostafichuk and great defensive efforts by Alaina Burger, Marci Burger, Ashley Aldridge and Jackie Pashley. Against a tough checking Oshawa squad, Jackie was able to slip a pass to Christine Cotie for the first marker The second goal came from a free pass by Kristin Waller to Heather Imrie who was able to feed Holly Allison who was standing alone in front of the Oshawa net. Port Perry didn't come out flying as wished by the coaching staff, but luckily neither did the opposition Due to absences, the team was carrying two affiliated players, Seth Gray and Scott Jeffrey, who were called up form the Pee Wee Legionaires. Both played excellent games. Port Perry opened up the scoring in this game with 1:55 left to play in the second period. Adam Hunter scored with assists going'to Tim Fitzpatrick and Seth. One goal was all that Port could manage that night. Port Hope scored two third period goals to move ahead, and win the game 2 to 1 November 1 saw the Belleville Bulls take on the Country Style Donuts team at the Scugog Arena. It seemed as though Port did not come to play for much of this game as they were on the very short end of the stick, losing 9t0 0. The team tried to put this game behind them, as they geared up for an away game against Uxbridge.Their rivals opened the scoring with 9:49 left to play in the second period of play, and again at the 6:07 mark. Port then leaped into action. Adam Smith showed his stuff, going to the net even after the goaltender had made the save Adam poked the goalte nder 8 glove sending the puck into the net. Tom Chambers picked up the assist on Smitty's goal. Uxbridge added one more before the second period was over, scoring with 2:02 left before the intermission. Going into the third, it was Uxbridge 3, Port Perry If The coaching staff's positive pep talk in between periods, Hilly's presence, and of course Lee's jacket, lifted Port Perry to great heights in the third period. Rob Murphy lit up the board first, 40 seconds into the final period. Adam Smith then scored his second goal of the game, picking up a rebound in front of the net, and fired it home. Again, Adam was assisted by Tom. It was all tied at three, when Mike Morden scored, assisted by Adam Hunter. The final score was 4 to 3 for Port Perry. This was a big win for the team, sending their spirits soaring. Upcoming home action for the Country Style Donut Bantams includes a game against Port Hope on November 15 at 7:30 pm.
