The first was the swearing in ceremony of our new Government. Isn't it remarkable that just a few days after an election our country is under new management with little fanfare and without a million dollar party like the American Inauguration. On November 11 I was moved to tears while watching the Remembrance Day ceremony from Ottawa on television. How proud I felt on both those occasions - and lucky too. I have the same feelingsffibout the community in which I live and work. We have many wonderful and caring people within our area. Ordinary people just doing their job without much recognition and often with less than deserved rewards. N This week's recipe comes from a local lady who has made my day better more than once! Dorothy Fulford is that cheerful voice at Brian's Towing. She never fails to make me feel better about whatever mess I've gotten myself into this time. Dorothy says that , four generations of her family enjoy these moist muffins, no butter needed, warm or cold! Blueberry Banana Muffins Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine in medium bowl: 1/2 cup sour milk, 1 egg, 1/3 cup vegetable oil, 1 cup (2-3) , mashed, 2/3 cup brown sugar, 1 cup blueberries and 3 thep molasses. In large bowl combine: 1 1/4 cup all purpose flour, 1 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp baking powder, dash salt, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp nutmeg, 1/8 tap allspice, 3/4 cup oat bran. Add liquid mixture to dry ingredients just until blended. Fill 12 giant muffin cups almost full. Bake in preheated 375 * Blackstock degree oven for approximately 25 minutes. Note: for a tasty change use unsweetened applesauce instead of bananas. Oops! Due to a missin ingredient in last week's number of calls were received by the office and Lynda. Here is the corrected recipe with our apologies: Anne's Chocolate Chip Cookies Cream together: 1 cup margarine, 1 cup brown sugar, and 1 cup white sugar. His many years of personal observations and time and energy have led to significant contributions towards several projects. Each year Mr. Sarginson participates in the Canadian Lakes Loon Survey which involves conducting a survey of the loons on the lake and monitoring the factors which affect their migration, population and nesting successes. His involvement in this project has led him to working 'closely with the organizers of the ProBass Tournament to alter the dates to avoid the prime loon nesting season on Pigeon Lake. Mr. Sarginson has also assisted organizers of the ProBass Tournament in the live release program to ensure that a more natural distribution of the fish occurs thereby minimizing overcrowding and starvation. WB healthstyles y deb mcdonald Many varieties of granola which you find at the supermarket are extremely sweet and loaded with undesirable fat such as coconut or palm oil. Did you know that it is very simple to make your own and more economical too? When placed in a jar with a tight-fitting lid, it will last for weeks in your cupboard and longer if refrigerated. You can also make half the recipe at a time which might be best sipce even homemade granola is sufficiently rich to restrict it perhaps to the status of a garnish on other cereal of yogurt rather than using it as the main cereal in your bowl. If all the ingredients are not available in your local supermarket, check out the health food store. For strict low- cholesterol diets, use margarine in place of butter and leave out the coconut. Kids will really love this!
