They met up with their league rivals from Uxbridge and came out with a solid 7-1 win. Shane Norton was in great form and netted himself a hat trick. Matt Phillips showed his scoring ability with two goals in this game and singles were chalked up by Robert Gracie and Matt Blowe. Assists were credited to Todd Parry (2), Matt Blowe (2), and singles to Dan Robinson, Mike Heasman, Brad Shanley, Aaron Levy, Bob Cracknell and goalie John Babcock. We welcomed Trevor Smith to our team after suffering from an injury during team tryouts and Mike Heasman who suffered an injury the last time we met up with this Uxbridge team. On Sunday, November 7 we met up with the team from Lindsay and were on the losing end of an 8-2 game. The line of Puckrin, Blowe and Baxter were hot as Gavin made a smooth pass to Puckrin who caught Ryan in the open and Matt Blowe went in to score with the high wrist shot. At the end of the second period the Techstars were leading 8-0. The third period saw more of the same work by our team and Ryan picked up his fourth and unassisted goal only a minute into the period. Shane Norton scored on a great unassisted effort and so did Mike Heasman when he hit the top corner of the unprotected Oshawa net. Shane Norton ended our scoring after Matt Phillipe let hard slap shot go from the point and Shane helped it into the net. Their first game saw them pitted against the #1 team from Uxbridge and the parents were sure we were going to have our hands full with this rival. The first period was hard, fast hockey by both teams, but our boys wouldn't let Uxbridge get the edge and in the second period at the 9:55 marker Shane Norton was face-off, kicked the puck behind his opponent at centre ice to the only goal of the game for either team. All the boys gave 100% in this game and netminder Jamie Tick had to come up with some great saves to keep the Uxbridge team from scoring. Our next match-up saw us up against the team from Ennismore and again our boys were playing a solid game of hockey but this time they were not able to get past the Ennismore netminder to score any goals. The final score was 2-0. The final game on Sunday was for the "C*" Ch p against Brantford scoring a goal with only ® minute and a half left and goaltender Jamie Trick had to keep on his toes to make some great saves to avoid the score being any higher. In the second périod again although our boys had many great chances and especially Matt Phillips who had two solid shots on net but we were not able to beat the Brantford goaltender. With 5:46 left in the second period Shane Norton finally caught the goalie over his glove side and scored Port's only goal of the game after a pass from Todd Pargy in the corner who had picked up the puck being dumped into Brantford's end by Robert Gracie. With 51 seconds left in the game the coaches decided to pull our goalie and Brantford was able to score on the open net. The boys went home without the win but "Brantford's "A" team.
