Barrie team had the Port Juniors number The IGA Juniors hosted Barrie in the teams' second meeting of the season and after an adventure in Nepean the girls were looking to turn things around. Barrie hit the score board with the first two goals in what proved to be a high scoring affair, Shona Moase got Port started when she snapped a wrist shot past the netminder after receiving a pass form Dana Hooker. Heather Tredway, playing her strongest game of the year, evened the score on a pass from Shona with a sizzler of a wrist shot. Heather coffipleted a three way passing play started by Cara Vander Slagt and centred by Linda Payne to give Port the lead at the end of the first period Barrie evened the score at 3-3 Auctioneers in The Pearce Novice Auctioneers took to the ice early Saturday morning against Woodville, Port Perry took the early lead at 6:48 of the first period on a great effort unassisted by Jeff Tarbottom. Woodville scored minutes later to tie the score. Port Perry scored at 7:12 of the second period again by Jeff Tarbotton on a nifty pass from "the rocket" Geoffrey Simpson. Woodville tied up the game moments later to keep this game close. Just over a minute later Trevor Lance cored again with assists going to Mark Duncan and Jeff Tarbotton. The Port Perry lead did not stand as Woodville scored 3 unanswered goals in the third period to take this game. It was a close match all game with plenty of action at both ends. Game 2 saw Pearce Auction play the hometown Beaverton team. Beaverton came to life to score at 6:51 of the second period, but again Port Perry drew blood within a minute on a goal by Trevor Lance assisted by Geoffrey Simpson. Port Perry scored again. in the third period with Trevor Lance scoring assisted by Jamieson Smith to put the game out of reach and earn Port Perry a shot at the consolation trophy. Game 3 was a nail biter from start to finish. The Auctioneers opened the scoring on a nice goal by Jeff Tarbotton assisted by Kevin - Robins who "really threaded the needle. Aurora scored to tie the game but Port Perry scored again within the minute to regain the lead with the goal going to Mark Duncan on a great shot assisted by Justin Moffatt. Aurora again tied the score only to have Port Perry take the lead on a goal by Bpencer Churchill assisted by Jeff Tarbotton. The Auctioneers scored a much CERTAINLY EMPHASIZE Your -- early in the second frame before Shona netted an unassisted goal from a free pass in the offensive end when she drilled a hard wrist shot that stuck in the back of the net ta return the IGA squad to a one goal lead (Should the coach be calling plays?) The visitors pulled even with two goals from their troublesome number 4 (a player to watch in the next match!) The line of Shona, Heather and Cara was flying as they each K ed up a pair of goals, The t goal of the triple pair was Cara's with the assist going to Shona and Poet had the lead once again. Not to be held in check the Barrie team put two more in the net in the last two minutes of play to eke out a victory over a Port Perry squad that played a much better game. Aurora scored with seconds remaining but Pearce Auction was on its way to the finals. Game 4, nail biter number two, Pearce Auctions were playing their arch rivals Stouffville. There was no scoring in the first period although there were ially by Port Perry with Gord Smith missing a close one and Geoffrey Simpson having a few good shots. Stouffville scored late in the second period. Port Perry tried time and time again to score but the Stouffville goalie came up big. Stouffville scored at 3:50 of the third peried to take a 2-0 lead and try as they might Port Perry could not put the puck past the Stouffville net. The final score was Stouffville 2, Port Perry 0. Great game and tournament guys. Trevor Lance and Thomas Lee each received 2 well deserved MVR _ awards. But after witnessing the last game of the tournament there should have been 15 MVP awards.
