Shepstone Rockettes go The Shepstone Haulage Petite B Ringette Team enjoyed their first tournament df the year and a silver medal performance in the Scarborough Tournament on December 10 - 12. It was a very busy and tiring weekend with the girls playing five games over the three days with some of the games at the most undesirable times. Their first game was an early Friday evening (6 pm) contest against their rival® from Pickering, a team that our Rotkettes have yet to beat. And this game was ours for the taking as the girls outplayed and outshot their opponents but most of the shots were either right at their goalie or the shot was stopped by a good ; The Heavy Haulers took the lead in the first minute on & goal by Stacey Cunningham from a goal-mouth scramble, The entire first period belonged to the Port girls but Pickering squeaked ope by our outstanding goalie, Jill, with just 1:33 left in the opening frame. . The second period was played very close and it was a lucky break that changed the tide when Pickering got their second on a screen shot that just found "its way in the inside right post. But our girls never gave up and came close several times, but in the end, it was Pickering on top by a 3-1 score. ~The next game was at 8:00 am the next morning against the host team, but it was Verschuuren (2), Leanne Davison (2), Stacey (2), Leanne Layzell, Heather Reid and Kimberley Carrique (one of our new players this season) with singles. It was a very tough game with the Pickering girls outplaying our girls and showing that they deserved to be number one that of a mismatch against the Scarborough Petite C team as the Port Perry Haulers mauled them 17-0.
