A Scugog Citizen -- Tuesday, December 21,1993 --29 4a Tough loss for Maimont on the road On Friday, December 17, Port Perry's "Malmont Farms" Atom 1 team travelled to Stouffville to take on the Stouffville Clippers in a league game. Both teams played end to end hockey for the first period with good chances at both ends but the goaltenders turned all shooters away as the first period ended in a scoreless tie. Scott Brownson, Billy Carr fore- checked and backchecked well trying to get something started. Finally, Port Perry got on the board first in the second period when Jason Whitworth stuffed the puck in past the goalie on an Haugens over the Printers 2-1 Only one game was scheduled for Saturday the 18th and Haugens won the game ggainst Port Perry Printing by one goal. The first goal for Haugens was scored by Jesse Mischitian assisted by Jordan Froats. The second was scored by Travis Black unassisted. The Port Perry Printing goal was scored by Clay Trainor unassisted. Scott Honey was the Haugens goaltender and Mark Lott was between the pipes for the Printers. On' Monday the 20th, the novice teams were scheduled for the early morning games. The VanCamp and Port Perry Printing teams came up with a tie. The goal scorers for VanCamp were Chris McKitterick with a pair and two assists going to Joey Lane and one assist to Teddy Howarth. The third goal was scored by Teddy Howarth unassisted. Robert Schaump was also an instrumental player for VanCamp in helping them tie up the game in the last few minutes of play. Port Perry Printing goal scorers were Clay Trainor, Devon Howsam and Derek Bond; assists went to Collin Holditch and Derek Bond. In the second game of the morning Re/Max was able to win by one goal against Haugens. Goal scorers for Re/Max were Stuart Cochrane and Clay Trainor with one each and Wesley Langmaid with a pair. Stuart Cochrane also assisted on two of the goals. Mike Whalen was the netminder for Re/Max and Scott Honey for Haugens. Malmont Farms carried the 2-1 lead into the third period, but Stouffville then took over the play. Early in the third period Stouffville scored to tie the game at two each. Port Perry fought back valiantly with Dean VanCamp, Chris Skerratt, Matt MacMaster and Dane Gray all working hard but could not get the puck in. A rather unfortunate goal that bounced off the back of one of our players on a clearing attempt gave Stouffville the 3-2 lead which they then went on to pad to a 4-2 win. Chris Monsma was between the pipes for the whole game with Pat Derrane providing back-up. Good defensive hustle was shown by our defencemen David Justynski, Matt Cracknell, Tim Jones, Joel Thompson, Sean Jeffrey and Grant Hooker. "Our final game before the Christmas break will be in Peterborough on Tuesday, December 21. Peterborough has proven to be a tough oppenent but having beaten them in Cobourg, I'm sure Malmont Farms are up to the challenge! Registration for Y floor hockey Six to Eight Year Olds On Monday, December 6, The Canadians scorgd four third period goals to edge the Leafs 5 to 3. Scoring two goals each for the Canadians were Keenan Geer and Ryan Petch and one goal by Matthew Krempowich. Scoring one goal each for the Leafs were Michael Shay, Danny Halward and Timothy Cruickshank. Greg Banks and Mark Morriason of the Leafs and Ryan O'Leary 'and Beston Kowalczyk of the Canadians all played great in goal for their teams. Registration for the second half of the floor hockey season is now underway. As well as the two age groups which are currently running, there is the potential for a 12 to 14 year old, as well as a four and five year old division, if the response is high enough.
