The band produced the in Oshawa and Paul said much attention was given to making sure it is of high technical quality. Paul has lived in S8cugog Township for the last six years, but the 38 year singer and guitar player began his musical career at the tender age of 12 years. He sang in jamborees and his first professional job was with a group called the "Shirley Fields Show." Since then, he has featured his own TV show, has appeared on the well known "Opry North Show" in Toronto, and has featured with some of Canada's best known names in country music including the late and beloved Marg Osburn of Don Messer fame. These days Paul and the Burnt River Band are playing hotels and clubs in southern Ontario. They were in Galert last Saturday night to play Buffalo Bill's Ghost Town Tavern, and on April 8 and 9 will be in Oshawa's Brass Rail on Highway 2 and the Town Line. . Country music occupies a big part of Paul's life. And for the last six years on the second Saturday in August, he and fellow musicians have organised a Corn Roast for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Held st Paul's rural property east of Blackstock, this event brings together musicians and singers who entertain through the evening for appreciative country fans of all ages. . The event was started in memory of Larry Dee, one of Canada's finest steel guitar players who died of a heart at Amb: 2 Records Over the years, the corn has become a favourite and Paul notes that plans are already made for this year's 18. Anyone is welcome to get-together August sit back and enjoy the music at this outdoor event that has raised thousands of dollars for the Heert and §troke Foundation in memory of Larry Dee. The newly released cassette by the Burnt River Band is available wherever the band is playing and at the Antrim Pub in Port Perry. f And country fans will soon be hearing the single "Slipping into Lonliness" as it has been released to over 300 AM and FM radio stations across Canad.
