In the Pes Wee House League final game Scala Brothers needed a late goal to defeat Larocque Electric 4-3. See story below. In the Consolation game Big V squared off against Emiel's to start the day. Both teams came out flying in the first period. At the seven minute mark of the first period Big V had a powerplay chance to take the lead however Jon Chambers in goal for Emiel's came up with a couple of saves "on shots from the point by Adam Kis ~but were unable to pyt the puck in the net as the penalty killers did a fine job keeping the forwards away from the front of the net. In the third period Big V put on the pressure with Ben Stephenson, Greg Ranieri and n Fletcher all having some good scoring chances but Jon rose to the occasion. Tom Boyd and Mark Delaney played well on defanse for Emiel's to stop the Big V team from scoring. Big V had a powerplay advantage but were still unable to put the puck in the net. J In the dying minute of play Greg Bruton' tried to put the 'icing on the cake but was denied by goaltender Tom Keeble. This David Filion and Adam Braj? came up with great efforts stop the Green In the next series of plays Tom Keeble, in the net for Larocque forwards were also no 2 great pad save on Jamie the oor at 1-0 at Ba ni iors Tap Keeble i Chris Thorfipson were called upon early in the gecond period to make some great saves. Larocque tied it up at the nine minute mark on a wrist shot by Jamie Clarke with assists going to Joel Phoenix and Jared" Painter. Score 3-2 for Larocque at the end of two. The third period was a very Sing of one as both teams skated hard and were back and forth up the ice' with each team getting good scoring chances. Brad Monsma hit the cross bar for the team and in the next rush Todd Mitchell had a terrific scoring chance for Scala but Tommy came up with the big save. ; At the 11:40 mark of the third Scala tied it on a backhand goal by Jeremy Pare with the assist going to Tyler Wootten. game Was a very exciting fast paced game to watch. Congratulations not only to Emiel's and Scala for their wins' today but to all the boys of the PeeWee House League this year. The were all well played and everyone gave the extra effort to make their parents proud and everyone gave the extra. effort to make their parents proud and I'm sure that the coaching staff from gach team are just as proud df each and every one of you. Port Elgin was able to again wofk their passing play well to get other goal and make the task. and on Saturday night the game went into a ten minute overtime to leave the game in a tie situation. The team from Port Elgin came on fast and furious in the first period but the goaltending by Techstar's John Babcock was outstanding and he was able to make many saves before captain' Craig Jennings of Port Elgin wag able to put one past him, The rest of the first period remained scoreless. In the second period Port Elgin pushed the lead to 8-0 before Port Perry's Matt Phillips got a lonehanded goal to finally put us on the scoreboard. ) In the third period it looked otty gruesome for Port Perry as the Port Elgin lead stretched to 4-1, but the boys in red did not gixp/upiand Matt Philips scored andther unassisted goal after 4 lof of hard work by linemates Todd Parry and Shane Norton to get the puck out into the open for him The boys knew what they had thatd serie, 3 seem impossible for Port Perry; but Ashley vanSchelven was right there to catch a rebound shot and'again the Techstars * fought back, - With only minutes to play in the game coach Dave jamieson pulled our goalie for the extfa attacker and that was all we needed to éven the score. With the pressure on Jamie Strickert z scored the tying goal with the assist from Matt Philips to take us into overtime play. " In the ten minute overtime period both teams"looked pretty tired and neither team was able to change the scoreboard. Port Elgin was able to score five goals in this game but if it hadn't been for the superb playing in the first two periods of ie John Babcock Port Perry would not have been playing on Sunday. *.
