CITIZEN SPORTS Carolyn Best voted to OASA executive At the 72nd O.A.8.A. Annual Meeting in Waterloo April 8, 9, and 10, local Softball Association Past President Carolyn Best was elected to the Executive Council. A former Fort Perry resident, Kevin Walker, was re-elected as 2nd Vice President. There were a total of 109 voting delegates ettending this year's Convention with the local delegation. including Past Presidents Vin Walker and Jack Cook with their wives as well as Mr. and Mrs. Best, Mr. and Mrs. Kay, Mr. and Mrs. Dalton, Mr. and Mrs. W. Venning, Dr. and Mrs. Jones and Mr. Dempsey. The results of the Election on Saturday were as follows: President - Al He@rison, Wingham; First Vice Presid Dunkeld, Stouffville, and Wilf Garrett, St. Catharines. Executive Council Elected (6) - Carolyn Best - Port Perry, Bill Danford - Oshawa, Peter Freamo - Ottawa, Barry Miller - Jarvis, Laverne Reichert - Waterloo and Hub Fehrman, Caledonia; Becond Vice President - Kevin Walker, Bowmanville; Third Vice President - Doug Bach, Seaforth. Secretary - Bea Weber, Guelph; Treasurer Bob Abbot, Uxbridge; Auditors - Cliff Bill Corbett (right) was named Sportsman of the year for the Port Perry Mens Curling Club at the annual closing banquet and business meeting last week. With Bill are Mens Club president Don Beaton (centre) and Doug McMillan, recipient of the Past Presidents plaque. Skip Garnet Warriner and his team of George Hardy, Bill McCallum, and Bill Cornish (not present) are the Port Perry Curling Club Mens champions and the téam earned and entry to the Holiday Inn Challenge Bonsplel to be held next season. The team won this honour recently in a single knock-out bonsplel with the other schedule winners in the Mens leagues. Broomball league hands out trophies Saturday, April 16, saw the PPBA annual banquet held at the Oddfellows Hall with a turnout of 70 plus people With the banquet go the awards presentations and this season there were some very worthy recipients. The Monsma Electric Bruins received the tfphies for both regular season top team and playoff champions Por the individual awards, the scoring champ was Monema's Nick Attwood with 28 points on the year. Top goaltender went to Monsma's Jim Raaphorst who had a goals against average of just 0.78. Rookie of the Year was Mike Butt of the B & R Electric Swampers while best sport was received by Woody's Neil Woodrow who was given no penalties this season while amassing 20 paints. League MVP went to Ken St. Amant of Woody's with his 25 peints and four minutes in penalties. Playoff MVP was Kevin [bbitteon with six points in four games. Next year's Executive will be a carryover form this year with Bteve Robinson in the President's chair with help form Larry Reurakas, Eric Kristensen and Les Allen. Bob Whitfield - Bath.
