The. Angels got things rolling on single by Sherri Brown and Nancy McConnell, along with two passed balls, that allowed Brown to score from third. But the Quebec pitcher really handcuffed the Angels were unable to figure out how to get on base. Quebec broke through with a single and two fielders choices putting runners on first and third Another single tied the game at 1- --- Using a runner on second in International rules, the Angels were not able to advance her to third. Quebec was able to get a run across on an over-throw to third to get the 2-1 win In game two Oshawa BB hooked up with league rival Angels and won 4-0. Both teams were on even terms until Oshawa sent eight hitters to the plate. The damage was done and the Angels never recovered Angels were only allowed one hit along the way The London Juniors struck early and fast and took a 3-0 lead The Angels could get nothing* working right until the 4th inning when Spence lod off with a single, Tara Mauder did the same and Cathy Davis drove home the first run In the 5th, McConnell singled along with Spence. Kelly Caldwell drew a walk to load the . Mauder flied to right but scored McConnell, and a perfect throw to third base nailed Spence for the ' HVE final out in the game. The Angels came up against a tough team from Detroit and were handed a text-book display of running and hitting that led to a 10-0 victory. Angel Cheryl Vaughan Yook a line drive in the forehead. She was taken to hospital and fortunately, the injury was not serious. The team was kind of down after Vaughan's injury but they finished the game. Sheri Brown managed the only hit for the Angels who chalked this one up to experience. Arms win 4-0 The under 17 girls soccer team opened its season May 31 at the soccer fields, playing host to Pickering Zippy Printing. The Port team, sponsored by Winchester Arms, grabbed a 1-0 first half lead on a goal by Sara Cosway. And before the half was competed, Lisa Bonser had staked Winchester to a 2-0 lead In the fast-paced second Winchester continued to enjoy scoring touch as Shaun Gault and Emily Cosway found the range for a handy 4-0 lead The shut-out was shared by three voluliteer goal-keepers Katie Senyk, Emily Cosway and Tara Sutch. It is nice to see some new players out for soccer this year and the dedication they bring. There are Blood Dono¥ Clinic 14 players on each team S play their home games each Monday night at the Port Perry Fairgrounds starting at 6:30 PM The opposition includes teams from Woodville, Cannfpgton, Beaverton, Sunderland, Little Britain, Oakwood, Cannington and Ops Township.
