Port started quickly scoring three in the first on a single by B.J.Schaump and walks to Justin Shinn and Tyler Lee before Jonathon Breen hit a two out single scoring two runs. Oak Ridges got two back in the bottom of the first and one in the second to tie the game. Port opened up breathing room in the third scoring four, then another seven in the fourth. Perry. Jeft Tarbotton, Thomas Lee and Trevor Lance are enjoying a good season of summer hockey with the Kawartha Canadians Major Novice Triple A based in Woodville. The team has won a couple of tournaments already afid perhaps the highlight so far was a 2-0 win over a visiting Russian Red Army novice team that had not lost a game. Jeff and Trevor play forward on this team and Thomas Is one of the goaltenders. Early In July the boys will be heading for Arnprior for a four day tournament. This fall they expect to be playing Atom hockey In Port Stuart Cochrane pitched well for two more innings before running into trouble in the fifth. Tyler Lee came into relieve but also had control trouble. B.J.S¢haump came in to put out the fire and keep the Taylor boys : in the lead 16-13. Port scored two in the sixth Squirts win big 14-2 On June 9, the Legion Squirt fastball squad hosted Markham and our bats were loaded as we took a 144 win. Chris Monsnia and Aaron Lycett had two hits, Sean Jeffrey had one, Mark and Braden Tarbotton had triples. Mark notched five K's in relief and clubbed a two run triple. Port Perry singles were by Matt Skerratt, Sean, Aaron, "Windows" Wiseman and Jeff Kane. The 'team travelled to St Catharines on June 11 for their 'second tournament of the season. The team was uncharacteristically flat in their opening game against a charged: up Oshawa team. The result was a 2-0 loss for Port as Oshawa capitalized on a throwing error and a two out walk. Tim pitched well in allowing just two walks and four hits. He registered seVen strikeouts. Chris Monsma made a nice catch off a line drive to second base and Jeff charged a popup to Right Field successfully. Chris Monsma and Sean Jeffrey were the only two Port hitters to solve the speedy Oshawa hurler and an inconsistent umpire strikezone. In our second game of the tournament our heroes bounced back and showed their more typical style of play on their way to an 11-2 win over Willowdale. Our third game was against Stratford and a thunderstorm shortened our game and averted our comeback. We had fought back from a 5-0 deficit after two innings with three runs in the fifth inning. Mark (two doubles), Sean (one double) were the only Legion batters to hit off the Stratford hurler who successfully idated our batters. E: to such tactics will teach our players how to cope with these challenges in the future. Jeff and Chris earned walks during our rally and both scored proving how important walks can be.
