What they encountered was an 11 hit 14 run attack and the game was called after 5 innings. The home team got 2 hits each from Johnathan Reed, Drew Walker, Sean Roncetti, Colin Lopez and Lee Hoare, including Lee's line drive home run to deep right-centre field. The pitching was also impressive as Sean, Drew and Gavin Baxter combined for the 1 hit, 1 run game. The following Friday, the Panthers travelled to Oakwood expecting a rematch with the inexperienced Oakwood minors. Terry McKenzie pitched three innings, allgwing 1 hit and 1 run while fanning 8.
