wp 33 Scugog Citizen ~ Tuesday, June 28, 1994 --- Action from the Scugog Youth Soccer Under 6 Results Laurentian Bank took their game against Becond Hand for Kids by a 5-2 margin. Kristopher Barchuk played a terrific game in goal with Joey Fry sending the ball deep into opposition territory. Brittany Jimmo and Dylan Jones teamed up well for some good passing plays. Sarah Landry and Shawn Bowen put the Kids on the board, and Chris Evans made some scintillating saves in net. J&D Carpentry played an excellent game against Framers Gallery, with Lukas Andres managing to score. Bradley Knight and Ashley Low each contributed a fine effort. ~ Royal Canadian Legion pounded Haugen's Chicks, but despite the loss Joshua Vaughan and Kin Rankin made some great saves. Under 7 Results Lake Scugog Lumber just edged out Komputer Klinic for a 4-3 win. Stewart Medford scored a hat 'trick, and great goaltending by Tim VanHoof, Dustin Eldridge and Colleen MeKeracher helped the cause. The Klinic kept the game exciting with two goals by Jonathan Hamelinck and one from Alex Moffatt. Brians Towing shut out the Port Perry Lions Club, with goals by Russell Tracey (2), Britini Smith, Kirk Stevens, and Mike Wallace. Honourable mention goes to Andrew Pegg and Jessica Lee from the Lions. Under 9 Results Air Durham had a close contest against Joe's Pizzeria, but held on for a 3-2 win. Derek 'Goreski "scored : twice and Tyler Cunningham added one, with help from good aggressive work by Matthew Heayn. Joey Stephenson' provided solid second half net minding. Nelson Langmaid posted the two points for Joe's. Lea Taillon and Luke Doupe-Smith performed well in net, backed up by good defense from Jillian Vaughan. The coaching staff sees improved confidence from Michael Younghusband with each game. Burketon had a tough outing against Reach Park Motors, who got production from many players. Goalscorers were Matthew Charron (4), Crosby Hartung (3), Richard Tracy (2), and Grant Ranieri (1). Matt Morison got the lone marker for Burketon. Kyle Geer was kept very busy in net for Cottrell's Cuspids in their match against Manvers. Justin Jimmo played a strong game and Robert Mark was tough on defense. Gary Cafik got Manvers going with a hat trick. Justin McGill, Brandon Spearing and Zachary Plowright each added one. Another high scoring team last week was Antrim House, in an 8- 1 win against Tim's Renovation. Erin Bray notched four goals, Tim Cruickshank kicked in two, Kyle Millins and Ryan Cleyndest each scored as well. Ryan O'Leary spoiled the shut out for Tim's. Raglan really came together in their game against Willowtree Farms to post a 3-1 win. Tyler Weisflock was in on every goal, scoring twice and making a nice pass to Peter Dutka, who picked up his first goal of the season. Tyler Daly was awesome in net, but Blake Cunningham kicked one through to put Willowtree on the board. , Under 11 Results The strong wind played havoc with the ball in the under 11 matches held Tuesday night. Spencer Churchill led the way with a hat trick, and David Halward notched 2 points. Strongly contributing to the win were Lea Lansdell, Peter Konstantinopolous, Melissa Hale and Rebecca Cruickshank. The coaching staff was pleased to see the players implementing those practice plays -- good work! Ryan Hutchins, Jonathan Payne and Adam Landry worked tirelessly in net for Willowtree, who played with a gkeleton team. Haugen's Heroes played a great game against Darlene Colton Photograph, losing 3-2 in the last seconds of play. The opening goal was scored quickly by Matthew Kamminga, but was just as quickly the game was tied up. Some other prime offensive plays were by Wolfgang Palleski, Laura Batterink, Derek Fishley and Trevor Weisflock. The defense was alert with Grace Michel, David Miller and Bridgette Palleski playing well. Special mention goes to lucky 13, Wolfgang, who ran miles with great heart for his team. Green Apple Cabinets played a - first-rate game against Legal Eagles, and were rewarded with a 6-2 victory. Goals for the Apples were by Michael Sytsma, Justin Moffat, Ryan Kelly, Mark Duncan, and two by Clayton Gilmore. Greg Jeffrey kept the game scoreless in the first half; and got an assist in the second. Kyle Marlow played a good second half in net as well. Stacey Cunningham and Nicholas Murphy each picked up an asgist. The Legal Eagles managed to tie the game early in the second half with two goals by Richard Brazier before the game got away from them. James Stevenson and Jason Cottrell put in good defensive efforts. Burketon managed their first win of the season against the newly created IGA team. Zach Pither posted two points and Greg Vanderleyden added one. Pat Lewis came through for IGA. Pee Wee MoJacks in Stratford tournament On the weekend the Pee Wee MoJacks travelled to Stratford for a tournament of 16 teams. On Saturday the boys played three games in the rain in a round robin set up and placed third in their division. This put them in the B side for the Sunday games. The first game of the tournament was against Annan. Chris Jones pitched the entire game giving up 4 hits, striking out 7 and walking only 1. Ryan Hawkins and Ryan McQuade, our middle infielders both had great games on defense with a couple of nice diving catches and very accurate throws. Jeff Ashton picked up a triple in this one with the only other hits going to Jon Froats and Ryan McQuade. Final score 4-0 for Port Perry. The second game of the da was against Sarnia. Jon Froats pitched an entire game and did not give up a hit however 6 walks and a couple of mental errors on our part gave the game to Sarnia. Jon struck out 6 men and led the team at the plate. Of the 4 hits that Port got Jon had 3 of them. Ryan Hawkins who hit the ball well all weekend picked up the other hit of the game and scored our only run as the boys lost 2-1. The third game of the day was against Fergus. After a trip to ' the laundromat to dry off the boys clothes the game got off to a great start as the boys scored 5 runs in the first 2 innings on only 2 hits and some great base running. The rains started down again and the Fergus team came alive as they picked up 14 hits on route to a 13-5 win. Port was only allowed 4 hits this entire game. Ryan McQuade picked up a triple, Scott Jeffrey picked up 2 singles and Brad Monsma picked up a single. Chris Jones took the loss. The weather took a complete turn around on Sunday and the bats came alive for the first game of the day. The boys picked up 12 hits in the first game against Mitchell which was 1 hit more than they had gotten in 3 games the day before. Jon Froats pitched this one and gave up 4 hits, 4 walks while striking out 5. We almost picked up a double"play at home plate in this one. A long ball was hit to Scott Jeffrey in centre field who threw the ball in to Ryan at short who relayed it to Brad at catch 'to almost tag both runners trying to cross the plate within 2 steps of each other. The first guy was safe but the second was out cold. Nice team work boys. Singles went to Ryan McQuade, Jeff Ashton, Mike Versage, Brad Monsma and Darryl Dalton. Final score 9-2. The next game of the day was against Breslau. Chris Jones pitched the entire game to pick up the win. Chris's change up was working well and he used it to his advantage as he picked up 8 K's. The other team didn't know what was coming at them or when it was coming. ' Chris allowed only 3 hits in this game. Derek Tindall had one of his best games of the season as he had some good catches in the field. Reid McTaggart had some good at bats in this one and was robbed of a céuple of solid singles. The short stop from their team robbed him twice. Ryan Hawkins was in fine form again as he hit a home run over the right fielder's head and a triple over the left fielder's head. It was one bounce te the fence both times. Ashton picked up a double and single, McQuade 2 singles and Froats a triple with singles going to Scott, Mike and Derek. Final score 11-3 and this put us in the B Championship game. This game was against New Dundee "A" team. This was « probably the strongest pitching the boys had come up against in the tourney. Jon pitched the first 4 innings and gave up 7 hits. Jon was pitching very hard and struck out 4 and gave up only 2 walks. A couple of triples with men on base in the second inning put us behind the eight ball. Chris' pitched the last inning in relief and gave up 1 hit while striking out 2. The boys picked up 8 hits but they were not able to get the hits close together to mount any kind of scoring rally as we lost the final 7-2. Mike led the bats for this one as he picked up a double and single, Jeff had a triple while Hawkins, McQuade and Scott Jeffrey each picked up 2 singles. The team is out of town for it's next 2 league games. Next home game is Tuesday July 5 at 6:30 against Richmond Hill.
