And a crowd estimated at over 2,000 jammed Port Perry's Palmer Park and the entire waterfront last Friday evening for one huge birthday bash as this great country of Canada turned 127. The weather was just about perfect for this Canada Day extravaganza organized by the Scugog Chamber of Commerce. The crowd seemed to be in a mood to relax, sit back and enjoy the pre-fireworks entertainment provided by local rock band Clay Highway and singer-guitarist- song writer Frank Trainer of Port Perry. The ceremonies included a colour guard from Branch 419, Port Perry Legion and the Korean Veterans Associati addressed the crowd and there was a moment's silence in honour of Canada's war dead.
