The Sox built up a commanding 14-1 lead but the Frew crew never gave up and battled back to make for an interesting ending with the Sox prevailing 16-12. In the last inning H & M went scoreless. However Frew & Sons were not done as they scored 4 runs on the erratic play and fielding miscues by the H & M team. Hearty congratulations to coaches Bud Buller and Neil McLaughlin and all the players of the H & M Wright Sox for winning both the league title and tournament trophy. BASEBALL: Wotten Carpentry 18 Aldon Transmission 9 The Hammerheads took the first game of the playoffs with a convincing win. Brett Chambers led the offense with-a long home run while Stephen Jensen and Coaches, umps go up on dunk tank platform The players and fans of Cartwright Minor Ball will get their chance to give this season's coaches, umpires, executive members and yes, maybe even some local politicians too, some very direct feedback at the Blackstock Fair on Saturday August 27. These people have agreed to take a seat on a dunk tank at the Fair, giving everyone an opportunity to give them feedback in a very direct way. According to the coaches, they don't think that any of their players can hit the target anyway. The operation of the dunk tank at the Fair is one of the two fund raisers for Cartwright Minor Ball. The intent of these fund raisers is to generate moneys specifically for the future development of improved diamond facilities within the Jocal communities. At this point, the primary emphasis is on the development of a new lighted diamond for Blackstock. The second fund raiser for Minor Ball will be a mixed lob ball tournament, open to 16 teams, and scheduled for the October 1-2 weekend. Openings for the tournament are still available, and registration can be made through Doug Kadowaki at 986-4263. For the dunk tank event, League officials are considering keeping track of which people generate the most interest while sitting on the "hot seat". This will give some indication of the degree of feedback the person can generate, and serve as a valuable barometer for everyone. This is the change that everyone Xe been looking for- a way to Memonstrate their feedback with enthusiasm-and not get benched, thrown out of the game or charged late fees.
